Sundance Mountain Resort 4th of July BBQ

The Lookout, Sundance Mountain Resort · Provo Canyon
When Sat, Jul 4 · Afternoon (confirm hours) Where The Lookout, Sundance Mountain Resort Cost $42 adults (13+), $23 kids 4–12, under 3 free

A relaxed, mountain-view alternative to the valley crowds: a BBQ buffet at The Lookout at Sundance on July 4, with lawn games, scenic lift rides, and views of Mount Timpanogos.

If the heat, crowds, and logistics of a valley-floor Fourth of July aren't your speed, Sundance offers the opposite: an unhurried mountain lunch that happens to fall on a national holiday. The resort's 4th of July BBQ runs the afternoon of July 4 at The Lookout, pairing a generous barbecue buffet with cooler air and some of the best views of Mount Timpanogos in the state.

The spread is built for appetites earned in the mountain air — a Kansas City–style lineup of ribs, andouille sausage, bacon burnt ends, and smoked turkey breast, plus sides, salads, and desserts. Beyond the food, there are lawn games and scenic lift rides running all afternoon, and each BBQ ticket includes 50% off a scenic lift ride up the mountain.

Tickets

Pricing is $42 for ages 13+, $23 for ages 4–12, and free for kids 3 and under. Space is limited and the resort recommends pre-purchasing online to secure a spot. Buy tickets on the official Sundance event page.

Good to Know

  • Confirm the hours. Published start and end times vary by source (afternoon into early evening), so check Sundance's page for the current window before you drive up.
  • It's about a 25–30 minute drive from Provo up Provo Canyon (US-189) to the Alpine Loop turnoff — a scenic trip in its own right.
  • Make a day of the canyon. Bridal Veil Falls is roughly 10 minutes down the canyon from the resort, and the Provo River runs alongside the road — easy add-ons before or after lunch.
  • Dress in layers. Even in July, the mountain runs cooler than the valley, especially if you ride the lift.

This is a ticketed meal, not a fireworks event — a good fit if you'd rather trade the big-crowd spectacle for mountain air and a slower pace. For the valley's fireworks options and the rest of the weekend's lineup, see our Fourth of July guide and the Provo events calendar.
