Salem Days
The 'City of Peace' celebrates one of Utah Valley's longest-running community festivals August 1–9, 2026 — a Grand Parade, Dutch-oven and cook-off competitions, a carnival and fair, live entertainment around Salem Pond, and fireworks.
Salem calls itself the "City of Peace," and each August the town on the south end of Utah Valley lives up to it with one of the area's longest-running and most genuinely small-town celebrations. Salem Days runs August 1–9, 2026, spread across Salem City Park and the picturesque grounds around Salem Pond.
A Classic Community Festival
Salem Days is the kind of celebration that pulls generations of families back to the same park every summer. The centerpiece is the Grand Parade winding through town, but the week is packed: Dutch-oven cook-offs and food competitions (a Utah County tradition done right), a community fair, a carnival with rides, live music and entertainment on the main stage, kids' activities, and races. The setting helps — few city festivals in the valley have a backdrop as pretty as Salem Pond at dusk.
Planning Your Visit
Most events are free, though the carnival and a few activities are ticketed. The celebration traditionally closes the week with a fireworks show. As with every Utah celebration this summer, it's worth confirming the fireworks status closer to the date given the year's wildfire conditions.
Check the official Salem Days schedule for the full day-by-day lineup and times. For more of what's happening across the valley, see the Provo events calendar and our guide to Utah Valley's August and Labor Day celebrations.
