With warm evenings settling in, Utah Valley's open-air concert calendar is filling up — and two of the area's most scenic venues have locked in their summer 2026 lineups.
Sundance: small, curated, and scenic
The amphitheater at Sundance Mountain Resort, tucked into Provo Canyon with peaks rising behind the stage, keeps its schedule short and hand-picked. According to Utah Valley's summer concert guide, the 2026 slate includes country duo Midland on July 25 (bench seats are reported sold out, with lawn general admission still available), Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives on August 1, and a Hoot & Holler mini-festival on August 8 featuring Michelle Moonshine & Co, The Hardy Brothers, and Bad Frances. Shows start around 8 p.m.
Sundance is as much about the setting as the music — most concertgoers arrive before sunset to walk the resort grounds and settle in, so give yourself extra time for the drive up the canyon and the walk to the venue.
SCERA Shell: a stacked Orem lineup
Down in the valley, Orem's SCERA Shell — one of the state's longest-running outdoor venues, set against the Wasatch foothills — runs a fuller summer season spanning country, pop, gospel, and rock. Gates there typically open at 6:30 p.m. with performances at 8, and it remains one of the more family- and budget-friendly ways to catch live music in the area.
Downtown's free Friday tradition
For something free and walkable, the Rooftop Concert Series has returned to downtown Provo, running on select Friday evenings through the summer with live music, food vendors, and mountain views over Center Street. It's an easy, no-ticket night out for students and locals alike — see our events guide for the rolling schedule.
A few tips for open-air shows
Mountain and foothill venues cool off fast after sunset, so pack a layer even on a hot day. Bring a blanket or low chair for lawn seating, check each venue's bag and cooler policy before you go, and budget extra time for parking — especially at Sundance, where the lot-to-stage walk is part of the experience.
