In a region with some of the largest household sizes in the country, "where can we all eat?" is a question Utah Valley families ask constantly — for birthdays, Sunday dinners, team parties, reunions, and the regular weeknight scramble with kids in tow. The good news: the valley is unusually well-stocked with restaurants built for a crowd, from festive Brazilian churrascarias to make-your-own-pizza spots to big-table farm-to-table rooms.
This is the valley-wide guide, organized by occasion: the celebration spots that handle a big group, the everyday places that genuinely welcome kids, and the dinner-plus-an-attraction combos that turn a meal into a whole outing. (For Provo specifically, we also have deeper dives on group dining in Provo and family-friendly restaurants in Provo.)
Celebration & big-group spots
These are the places to point a crowd at — birthdays, reunions, team dinners, anything 8-plus.
1. Tucanos Brazilian Grill
Churrascaria · $$$ · Orem
The valley's celebration restaurant. Tucanos does all-you-can-eat churrasco — servers circulate with skewers of grilled meats you control with a red/green token — plus a big salad-and-sides bar. The format is festive, paces itself, and keeps kids and adults equally entertained, which makes it the default for Utah Valley birthdays and group dinners. Come hungry.
Best for: Birthdays, big groups, celebrations that should feel like an event.
2. Rodizio Grill
Churrascaria · $$$ · Provo
Provo's Brazilian steakhouse, and the original American rodizio. Same crowd-pleasing all-you-can-eat grilled-meat format as Tucanos, with a generous salad bar and a lively room that absorbs a big party with ease. A downtown-Provo go-to for groups.
Best for: Group celebrations close to BYU and downtown Provo.
3. Braza Grill
Churrascaria · $$$ · Lehi
The north-valley churrascaria option, putting all-you-can-eat Brazilian grilled meats within easy reach of Lehi, American Fork, and the Thanksgiving Point crowd. Rounds out the valley's trio of celebration-ready meat palaces.
Best for: Big groups on the north end of the valley.
4. Communal
Farm-to-Table · $$$ · Provo
For a celebration that's a notch more refined, Communal's whole concept is shared dining — long farm tables, dishes meant to be passed around. It's ideal for a group that wants something special and seasonal rather than all-you-can-eat. Book ahead for larger parties.
Best for: Grown-up celebrations, milestone dinners, foodie groups.
5. Strap Tank Brewery
Brewpub / American · $$–$$$ · Lehi
A cavernous, design-forward space near the outlets with room to spread out and a broad menu that has something for everyone in a mixed group. The industrial-cool setting and seasonal patio make it a fun spot for a casual big-table gathering.
Best for: Mixed groups who want space and a wide-ranging menu.
Everyday family favorites
Kid menus, quick service, forgiving of little ones — and food the parents actually like.
6. Station 22 Café
Comfort Food · $$ · Provo
Scratch-made American comfort food on Center Street — fried chicken, pot pie, house sodas. Welcoming to families, with food that feels like a treat without being fussy. A Provo favorite for a reason.
Best for: Sunday-dinner comfort food with the family.
7. Cubby's
Fast-Casual · $$ · Provo, Spanish Fork & valley-wide
The local fast-casual chain built for exactly this: big sandwiches, salads, fries, and shakes, fast and affordable, with locations across the valley. An easy, low-stress weeknight pick when the kids are hungry now.
Best for: Quick, affordable, no-fuss family meals.
8. Los 2 Potrillos
Mexican · $$ · Spanish Fork
Authentic, generous Mexican on Main Street in Spanish Fork — and notably, it has a back room for parties of six or more, which makes it a quiet sleeper pick for a family group on the south end. Huge portions, friendly service, family-owned for years.
Best for: South-valley family dinners and group Mexican.
9. Make-your-own pizza (Lehi)
Pizza · $$ · Lehi
Lehi's build-your-own-pizza spots — fresh dough, unlimited toppings, your pie fired in minutes — are a kid magnet, turning dinner into a make-it-yourself activity. Great for families who want everyone to get exactly what they want.
Best for: Picky-eater households and kid-led dinners.
10. Sweet Island Place
Hawaiian / Polynesian · $$ · Provo
Hawaiian plate lunches — teriyaki chicken, kalua pork, loco moco — served with rice and mac salad in a laid-back room. Big portions, comfort-food flavors, and a relaxed vibe that suits families.
Best for: Hearty island comfort food the whole table will share.
11. Black Sheep Café
Southwestern · $$$ · Provo
A step up for families with slightly older kids or a multi-generation table — inventive Native American–influenced Southwestern food in an upscale-casual room on Center Street. Special without being stuffy.
Best for: A nicer family meal that still feels relaxed.
Dinner + an attraction
When the meal is half the plan, these pair eating with something to do.
12. Harvest & Trellis Café at Thanksgiving Point
Farm-to-Table / Café · $$$ / $$ · Lehi
Thanksgiving Point is the valley's one-stop family destination: dinner at Harvest (or lunch at Trellis) plus the Museum of Ancient Life, the Butterfly Biosphere, and Ashton Gardens, all on one campus. Build a whole day around it.
Best for: A full family outing — attractions and a meal in one place.
13. Umami Japanese Barbeque
Japanese BBQ · $$$ · Vineyard
Vineyard's interactive grill-your-own-meat experience is genuinely fun for a group or a curious family, and it sits in the Geneva district next to the Megaplex theater — easy to pair dinner with a movie. The newest entry on this list, in the valley's newest city.
Best for: A group that wants dinner-as-activity, plus a movie next door.
14. Slackwater (Riverwoods)
Gastropub / Pizza · $$$ · Orem
A string-lit patio at the walkable Riverwoods shopping center, with creative pizzas and a wide menu. The setting lets a group settle in for the evening, with shops and a theater steps away.
Best for: A relaxed group evening with shopping and a movie attached.
15. Talons Cove Clubhouse
American · $$ · Saratoga Springs
On the west side, the Talons Cove golf clubhouse offers casual dining with lake-and-mountain views — an easy group spot for Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain families, no tee time required.
Best for: West-side family groups who want a view with the meal.
Planning tips for groups & families
- Call ahead for 6+. Many independent spots don't take reservations but will happily seat or prep for a group if you phone before a busy weekend. For private rooms (Los 2 Potrillos, larger sit-down spots), give a few days' notice.
- Churrascarias pace themselves. Tucanos and Rodizio are ideal for groups precisely because the format is leisurely — nobody's rushed, and everyone eats at their own speed.
- Stack dinner with an attraction. Thanksgiving Point (Lehi), the Riverwoods (Orem), and the Geneva/Megaplex district (Vineyard) all put food next to something to do — the easiest way to keep a mixed-age group happy.
- Weeknights beat weekends. For big groups, a Tuesday or Wednesday means easier seating and faster service than a Friday-night rush.
