4. Block Restaurant

A hip fine-dining room that's become one of the valley's favorite special-occasion spots — seasonal, locally sourced, and as good for a celebratory dinner as it is for a weekend brunch. Beautiful but unpretentious. Note the address: it is on North University Avenue in Provo, not in Orem, despite how often it gets listed that way.

5. La Jolla Groves

Maybe the most purely romantic room in the valley: diners sit beneath a canopy of luscious lemon trees, inspired by a dinner the owners had on the Isle of Capri. 9. Oteo

The sleeper, and one that moved. Oteo has been cooking elevated regional Mexican since 2013 — first in Lindon, and since 2026 at 2135 W 450 S in Pleasant Grove, not American Fork, where a lot of guides including earlier versions of ours still place it. It flies under the radar and inspires some of the most effusive reviews in the valley, on a short menu with standout service. Closed Sundays and Mondays.

10. Sol Agave
Upscale Modern Mexican · $$$ · American Fork
Creative, upscale Mexican that routinely lands on "best of Utah Valley" lists — a polished room, a deep tequila and mezcal selection, showpiece lobster enchiladas, and a butter cake regulars plan their visit around.
One correction worth carrying: Sol Agave has exactly one Utah Valley location, at 749 W 100 N in American Fork. Its own site lists only American Fork and Salt Lake City in Utah. Round-ups placing it in Lehi or Saratoga Springs — including, until recently, parts of this site — are sending you somewhere that does not exist.
Why it's a date spot: Dressed-up Mexican with showpiece plates and a buzzy room.
