Orem City Truck-or-Treat 2026 — University Place
Orem City brings the vehicles that run the city — garbage truck, fire engine, police cars, construction rigs — to University Place for a daytime Halloween event, with a sensory-friendly quiet hour first. The 2026 date is not yet published.
Truck-or-Treat is Orem City's daytime Halloween event at University Place, and it is a genuinely different proposition from an evening trunk-or-treat. The vehicles are the attraction: the trucks that actually run the city, parked for children to climb on and look into.
Why it suits small children
It runs in the middle of the day, so no one is out after dark and no one is cold. A quiet hour for children with sensory needs opens before the main event — an hour with the vehicles present and the crowd absent, which is a meaningful accommodation and one of the few in the valley's Halloween calendar.
Candy is handed out from the Orem City booth rather than from the individual vehicles. That is a deliberate operational choice and it changes the shape of the event: children queue once rather than circulating for sweets, and the vehicles stay a thing to look at.
A ride-on train, face painting and live entertainment run alongside.
The date
No 2026 date has been published by either Orem City or University Place. The date on this page is derived from the most recent published edition and is flagged unconfirmed. Note that the previous edition's calendar date falls on a Sunday in 2026, so it cannot simply repeat — the event will move.
