The Olympic Winter Games open on February 10, 2034.
Utah hosts the Winter Olympics for the second time in 2034, 32 years after 2002, and the plan is built on reuse: the IOC says ten of the thirteen competition sites come from 2002, and every venue is within an hour of the Olympic Village at the University of Utah. One of them is in Provo. This hub gathers what Utah Valley needs to know over the eight years to the Games, and it will keep adding to it as the plan takes shape.

- Soldier Hollow, near Midway, about 42 minutes: cross-country skiing, biathlon and Nordic combined.
- Maverik Center, West Valley City, about 49 minutes: figure skating and short track speed skating.
- Utah Olympic Oval, Kearns, about 51 minutes: long-track speed skating.
- Delta Center and Salt Palace, Salt Lake City, about 53 minutes: ice hockey, and curling.
- Rice-Eccles Stadium, University of Utah, about 58 minutes: the opening and closing ceremonies.
- Park City Mountain and Deer Valley, about an hour: freestyle skiing and snowboarding.
- Utah Olympic Park, Park City, about 67 minutes: sliding, ski jumping, and cross and parallel events.
- Snowbasin, above Ogden, about an hour and 45 minutes: alpine skiing, including the downhill.
Big air goes on a temporary ramp on a downtown Salt Lake City block near Temple Square. The plan has already changed once: in 2024 hockey moved to the Delta Center, and figure skating and short track to the Maverik Center.
The eight-year calendar
- July 24, 2024: Salt Lake City-Utah elected host.
- August 2026: FrontRunner's double-tracking project enters the federal engineering phase.
- 2027 to 2030: FrontRunner double-tracking construction, if the federal grant is completed, targeting 15-minute peak service.
- 2030: the Winter Games in the French Alps, after which organizers expect to detail the volunteer program.
- 2032 to 2034: the rise in Games spending the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute expects.
- 2033: volunteer selection and training, by organizers' current estimate.
- February 10 to 26, 2034: the Olympic Winter Games, with the Paralympic Winter Games to follow.

That is the plan. The FrontRunner 2X double-tracking project, advanced toward nearly $1.3 billion in federal funding in August 2026, targets 15-minute peak service after construction from 2027 to 2030.
