Date Night Generator

Budget, season, mood. One pick, drawn from the guides we already wrote — and it knows what is closed on Sunday.

Every idea in here comes from a guide on this site. Nothing was added for the tool. That matters because the point of a generator is not novelty — it is to stop the two of you standing in a kitchen at 6:40 p.m. saying "I don't mind, what do you want to do." Set three things below, hit the button, and either take the pick or hit it again. Each result links to the guide it came from, which is where the parking, the hours and the caveats live.

Season is pre-set from today's date. Tap another if you are planning ahead.

How the picker decides

There is no ranking and no sponsorship in the results. The tool filters the list to whatever fits your three settings, then chooses one at random. Hitting the button again gives you a different one from the same pool, and "show every match" lays the whole pool out if you would rather browse. The share button puts the pick in the link, so you can send a specific idea rather than a page.

The Sunday switch exists because Sunday is a different city here. The BYU museums, the library, most downtown kitchens and most of the entertainment venues are closed; the trails, the canyon drives, the lake and a handful of restaurants are not. Our cheap date guide explains which "free" spots sit inside fee areas, and the main date guide covers the mid-afternoon gap downtown, the roads that gate for the season, and the fact that this is a dry city — which shapes the evening rather than ending it.

Budget follows the tiers in the cheap-date guide rather than dollar figures, because prices go stale and get quoted for years afterward: free means no ticket, no cover and no parking fee; one shared thing is a dessert, two sodas or a tank of gas; a meal out is dinner or a paid activity; occasion is the handful of places you book for an anniversary. Season is set from today's date because half the outdoor list is closed by snow for part of the year — the Alpine Loop and the Kyhv Peak road both gate for winter, the lake charters run in the warm months, and the ice rink and the tubing hill are winter-only.

If the pick sends you somewhere with a wait, a reservation or a fee, the linked guide says so. Where our coverage is deeper — the 25 Utah Valley date-night activities, the Provo date-night restaurants and the valley-wide restaurant list — the tool links straight to it.

Ideas are re-verified when their source guides are updated. If a venue here has closed or changed hands, tell us and we will pull it.
