The age rule decides more family service plans than anything else, so it comes first here. Tabitha's Way takes volunteers from 12 with an adult alongside anyone under 16. Community Action's group shift in Provo starts at 16 and needs at least ten people. Habitat lets 16-year-olds onto a build site but keeps power tools for 18 and up. A family whose oldest child is nine has a different list from a family with two teenagers, and a ward youth group of twenty has a different list again. Pick what describes your group and the matcher sorts the rows into the ones that fit and the ones where the rule is not published, so you know who to call before you load the car.
Picking a Utah County city also keeps the countywide programs and the projects you do from home, since those serve every city.

Might fit: the rule is not listed
These match everything else you picked, but our guide does not list the organization's rule for the age or commitment you chose. Call or email before you plan around them.
Nothing in the list fits all of those at once. Drop the city or the group size first; those two narrow it the fastest.
How the matcher decides
Age means the youngest person who will be on the shift. A row fits when the organization's published minimum is at or below that age. Tabitha's Way counts as a fit for a 12-year-old because it takes 12-year-olds with an adult; Habitat's build sites fit a 16-year-old, and the card notes the separate power-tool rule at 18. The at-home drives fit any age because the shopping and bagging happen at your kitchen table.
One time keeps anything you can do once: the pantry shifts, a drive, a build day, a dog walk at the Spanish Fork shelter. Weekly or ongoing keeps the roles that ask for a standing commitment, like the Food and Care Coalition's meal service, which asks for about three months, or hospice companionship, which starts with training and a background check.
Group size follows what each organization says it can hold. The Tabitha's Way satellites in Spanish Fork and Saratoga Springs take one to four people and send groups to Pleasant Grove. Community Action's Provo group slot is the reverse: ten or more, or it is not the right sign-up. Habitat takes neighborhood, school and church groups of up to ten.
When a guide does not state a rule, the matcher does not guess. Those rows drop into the "might fit" list with the missing field marked, because a shift that is wrong about age is worse than no suggestion at all.
Before you sign up a group
Call first, give a real headcount and a real age range, and ask what the organization needs instead of proposing a project. Our guide to service hours for students and student groups covers how to document hours so they survive a scholarship committee, and volunteer liability in Utah explains the two laws behind the waiver you will sign. If your group is planning around December, read holiday giving in Utah Valley first: November and December bring more volunteers than many organizations have shifts, and February and July bring the same need with a thin sign-up sheet.
For trail and watershed work, the first step is finding out who manages the ground, which is different for every trail; trail and watershed volunteering walks through it. The matcher leaves trail work out because our guide names land managers rather than specific shifts. Tutoring placements are in the same position: they run through the Alpine, Provo City and Nebo district volunteer coordinators, and volunteering as a tutor or mentor covers the screening timeline.
The full list of guides is on the Volunteer and Serve hub. Most standing opportunities in the county are also posted on JustServe and the United Way of Utah County volunteer portal, which change weekly and are worth checking the week you plan to serve.
Every opportunity here comes from a Provo.com guide, and each card shows the date that guide was last updated. If a row is out of date, tell us and we will fix the guide and the matcher together.
