Start with the temple, not the venue. Every Utah County temple publishes its own closure list, and in 2027 those lists take out whole weeks: the Provo City Center Temple is closed from May 31 to July 5, and its late-November closure falls on exactly the same dates as the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple's. This finder lays each month out Saturday by Saturday, says which temples have that day on a closure list, and adds the other things that decide a date here: general conference, BYU football, Utah's legal holidays and the Church's rules about Sundays and Monday evenings. Every flag links to the page it came from. Where nobody has published a date yet, the finder says so and leaves the day blank.

Closures and weekday dates this month
What the finder checks, and where each answer comes from
- Temple closures are copied from each temple's page on the Church's site, exactly as listed on October 20, 2026. Six temples operate in Utah County: Provo City Center, Orem, Mount Timpanogos in American Fork, Lindon, Payson and Saratoga Springs. The original Provo temple, now the Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple, is listed as under renovation and offers no dates. All six lists run through the end of 2027; none of them yet lists a 2028 closure beyond New Year's Day. For 2028 months the finder says that plainly instead of marking a temple open.
- Sundays. Temples are closed every Sunday, which our wedding season guide and each temple's schedule show. The finder does not repeat that on every Sunday square; it is true of all of them.
- General conference dates come from the Church's Newsroom: April 3 and 4, 2027, and October 2 and 3, 2027, with sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time each day. The Newsroom has no 2028 conference pages yet, so 2028 Aprils and Octobers carry a note, not a guess.
- BYU home football games for the rest of 2026 come from the site's own game-week data, which is built from BYU's schedule. For 2027, BYU has dated two home games: Oregon State on Saturday, August 28 (moved from September 25 under the new 14-week season) and Weber State on Saturday, September 4. BYU lists four more 2027 home opponents (Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech and Utah) without dates, and one 2028 home opponent (Boston College).
- Holidays follow Utah Code 63G-1-301. The 2026 Legislature amended it twice. The version in force now includes Good Friday, and the version that takes effect January 1, 2027 moves Juneteenth into the same rule as the other fixed-date holidays (a Saturday holiday is observed the Friday before, a Sunday holiday the Monday after). So in 2027 the state observes Juneteenth on Friday, June 18. UVU's own published calendar marks Monday, June 21 as its Juneteenth day off, so the two do not line up that week.
- Campus dates (finals, commencement and first days of semesters at BYU and UVU) come from the site's academic calendar, which is read from each school's own pages. Our guide for out-of-town guests notes that graduation weekends can sell out the valley's hotels, and our open-house guide notes that a reception during finals draws fewer students.
- Freedom Festival. Provo's Fourth of July festival had published no 2027 dates when we checked its site. The 2026 festival ran June 20 to July 4. The finder shows that as last year's pattern in June and July, and marks no 2027 or 2028 festival days.
Reception-center peak weeks: the number that does not exist
We looked for a published list of the weeks Utah Valley reception centers book first and did not find one, from the venues or anyone else. What does exist is the state's count of marriages by month. In 2025, September was Utah's busiest month for weddings, then May, July and August; November was the quietest. The finder shows that month's 2025 count and rank, labeled as a statewide figure, because it is the closest honest measure of demand. Our wedding season guide has the full table and the 2026 numbers so far.
Things the finder turned up for 2027
- June 2027 is the tight month downtown. The Provo City Center Temple is closed from May 31 to July 5, and Saratoga Springs is closed June 7 to 21. On the Saturdays of June 12 and 19, only four of the six temples are off their closure lists, and couples moved from both will be calling those four.
- Labor Day weekend has a home game. Saturday, September 4, 2027 is Weber State at LaVell Edwards Stadium, the Monday is Labor Day, and the Orem temple's two-week closure runs through that Monday.
- Pioneer Day falls on a Saturday in 2027. All six temples list Saturday, July 24 as closed. The state observes the holiday on Friday, July 23.
- Conference Saturdays are close to closed. On October 2, 2027, every temple lists a closure. On April 3, five of six do; the Saratoga Springs list does not include it. If April 3 matters to you, ask that temple directly.
- Christmas 2027 and New Year's Day 2028 both fall on Saturdays, so the state holidays are Friday, December 24 and Friday, December 31. All six temples list December 24, 25 and 31 as closed.
The Sunday and Monday rules, as the Church writes them
These apply to a wedding or reception in a Church building, not to a reception center. The General Handbook says weddings in Church buildings "should not be held on the Sabbath or on Monday evenings" (38.3.4), and that "receptions and similar activities may not be held in Church facilities on Monday nights" (20.5.3). Both rules are about Church buildings; a reception center sets its own days. For borrowing a cultural hall, the rest of the rules are in the luncheon versus the reception.
Where to go next
Once you have a date, read the page for your temple: Provo City Center, Orem, Mount Timpanogos, Lindon, Payson or Saratoga Springs. Students should also read getting married during the semester. To plan the day itself, the sealing-day planner builds a timeline from your appointment, and the guest-list and reception planner does the open-house math.
Temple schedules, game dates and festival plans change. Every row on this page was checked on October 20, 2026, and each flag links the page we read. Confirm with the temple before you print invitations. If something here has changed, tell us and we will update it.
