No stocking dates here, on purpose. The Division of Wildlife Resources keeps one statewide stocking report and updates it as trucks go out; a date copied onto this page would be wrong within a week. Instead, each water below carries the exact name it goes by in that report, the species DWR listed for it in 2026 when we read the report on October 20, 2026, and what our own guide says about species and season.
How to use DWR's two tools
- DWR fish stocking report: one table for the whole state. Type the DWR name from a card below into its search box, or sort by county and scroll to Utah. The newest stocking for that water is the row you want.
- DWR Fish Utah planner: a map. Select a water and DWR shows its latest fishing report and rating along with that water's stocking events. DWR does not publish a separate web page per water, so this map is where each water's report lives.
- Subscribe to DWR fishing reports if you would rather have the reports arrive by email.
Community ponds
Our kid fishing ponds guide lists twelve Utah County community fishing waters. What it says about all of them: “Rainbow trout are the mainstay, stocked at intervals through the year.” “Spring and autumn generally fish better than the height of summer at these shallow, warm waters.” And the reason to check the stocking report before you go: “fishing a pond shortly after it has been stocked is dramatically more productive than fishing it three weeks later.”

The Provo River rows carry no 2026 stocking entry under a Utah or Wasatch County listing when we read the report. That is a statement about the report on October 20, 2026, not a claim about how the river is managed; our Provo River fly fishing guide covers the river itself.
Rules, ice and the lake
- Who needs a license. “a person under 12 may fish without one and may take a full daily and possession limit.” Best Fishing Spots Near Provo
- How long it lasts. “A Utah license runs 365 days from purchase, not to the end of the calendar year.” Best Fishing Spots Near Provo
- The fall kokanee rule. “may not possess kokanee salmon at any water in Utah from September 10 through November 30” Best Fishing Spots Near Provo
- Ice. “The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources tells anglers not to go onto ice that is less than four inches thick, and to keep checking as they move rather than testing once at the shoreline.” Ice Fishing Near Provo
- Winter roads. “The Alpine Loop and the Nebo Loop both close seasonally with the snow, which removes a large share of the county's high-elevation water from the winter map” Ice Fishing Near Provo
The Utah Fishing Guidebook sets limits and closures water by water and overrides anything summarized here. For algae on Utah Lake, the state's Utah DEQ harmful algal blooms page and its map carry the current advisories. Licenses and where to buy one are in our fishing and hunting license guide, and the drive to the canyon waters depends on the gates on the canyon and road board.
Every quoted sentence matches its guide as it stood on October 20, 2026, and the page will not build if a guide changes and the board does not. DWR names and species were read from DWR's own pages that day. If something here is wrong, tell us.
