BYU vs Utah Tech 2026: Sept 5, 6 p.m. on ESPN+ — Tickets

LaVell Edwards Stadium, BYU · Provo
When Sat, Sep 5 · Kickoff 6 p.m. MDT · ESPN+ Where LaVell Edwards Stadium, BYU Cost Tickets required

BYU hosts Utah Tech at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday, September 5, 2026 — the home opener. Kickoff is 6 p.m. MDT on ESPN+, announced by the Big 12 and its TV partners on May 27, 2026. Tickets through BYU Athletics; 62,073-capacity stadium, no-bag policy, Lot 18 tailgating from 8 a.m., dry campus throughout.

BYU opens the 2026 season at home against Utah Tech, the in-state FCS program from St. George now moving into the Big Sky. The two schools have met once before, in 2022, when BYU won in Provo. It is the softer end of the home schedule, which for anyone attending is mostly good news: the opener fills LaVell Edwards Stadium and the surrounding streets without the traffic and sell-out pressure that arrive with Notre Dame in October.

One detail catches people out on this date. BYU allows overnight stays in the Lot 18 tailgate lot only for games kicking off at 7 p.m. or later — and this one kicks at 6 p.m., so the exception does not apply. The lot opens at 8 a.m. as it does on every home game day, and closes two hours after the game ends. The evening start otherwise does change the plan: general lots open four hours before kickoff rather than in the morning, and the walk back to north Provo happens in the dark.
