Every summer, For the Strength of Youth conferences bring youth from across the country to BYU for a week of devotionals, classes, dances and friendships, and for many Utah Valley families FSY is a rite of passage between 14 and 18. The logistics are simple once you know the calendar: the registration opens in the fall, stakes attend on alternating years, and Monday's drop-off is the one part parents handle themselves. This guide covers all of it.
Who can go
- Ages: youth may attend beginning in the year they turn 14 and may be no older than 18 by the end of the session.
- Approval: the bishopric must approve each youth before registration.
- Friends: youth of other faiths can attend after meeting with a member of the bishopric and agreeing to follow the FSY standards; they register with a Church account.
- Other options: ASL and virtual sessions are offered for youth who cannot attend in person.
The cost
Youth pay $75 at registration, and the ward is billed another $75 for each youth. The bishopric may choose to cover the youth's share from ward funds; if the cost is a burden, talk to the bishop.
The alternating years
Stakes are assigned to attend FSY on a cycle. On-cycle stakes are scheduled for that summer and get the early registration phases; off-cycle stakes are scheduled for the next year, and their youth can register later for any spaces left. Check your stake's assignment before planning the summer.
The registration calendar
For the 2026 conferences, the Church's timeline ran:
- October 21, 2025, to January 13, 2026: preregistration for on-cycle stakes, where youth pick preferred sessions and can link with up to five friends.
- January 15 to 28: finalizing assigned sessions.
- February 12 to 25: standard registration for all approved on-cycle youth.
- From February 26: open registration for any available session, plus the ASL and virtual sessions.
- From March 12: registration for off-cycle youth.
If the pattern holds, preregistration for the 2027 conferences will open in the fall of 2026; watch for the Church's announcement.
The week at BYU
BYU hosts FSY sessions through the summer, each running Monday to Saturday; one 2026 session, for example, ran June 1 to 6. The campus is about three miles and eight minutes from downtown Provo.
- Monday drop-off: check-in runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the location listed on the session information page of the youth's FSY dashboard, and participants must be dropped off; they cannot drive themselves.
- The days: devotionals, gospel classes, activities and group discussions, with youth living on campus for the week.
- Leaving early or returning: parents coordinate through the session's site office, which also handles late check-ins.

Practical notes
- Watch the fall. Preregistration opened in late October last cycle.
- Check the cycle. Your stake may be off-cycle this year.
- Plan the Monday. A parent or leader has to do the drop-off.
