Sun River Gardens is a garden center on North State Street in Orem whose greenhouse doubles as a year-round reception venue: more than 7,000 square feet of plants, fountains and gazebos under glass, climate-controlled so a November wedding can still feel like a garden. What the rate includes
Staff: a wedding coordinator to help plan, one or two coordinators on site during the event, and complete setup and takedown of tables, chairs and linens.
Space: indoor and outdoor gardens, a private bridal room, a large caterer staging area with a microwave, fridge and sink, an area for gifts, a dancing area and parking. The greenhouse is climate-controlled year-round; in summer the venue says it can cool it to 75 degrees.
Tables, chairs and linens: 12 60-inch round tables and five tall tables (banquet tables on request), 15 base linens in more than 70 colors (toppers, sashes, napkins, chair covers and extra runners cost more), more than 100 cushioned chairs, plus sign-in, gift, cake and TV tables.
Extras: a 32-inch TV and DVD player, ivy topiary or lantern centerpieces, four easels about 5 feet tall and two tabletop easels, an overhead stereo with phone hookup, and a cordless microphone.
Why couples pick a greenhouse
The owners tell the story on their site: their own backyard reception in August 2000 was rained out, and when they began hosting receptions at Sun River in 2006 the pitch became "a garden wedding without checking the weather report." For a winter or early-spring reception, that is the case for this venue. Plan around the May blackout.
