Slackwater is a gastropub built around creative wood-fired pizza and a full bar, and its Provo outpost at The Shops at Riverwoods became one of the busiest patios in the county almost immediately after opening.

Where it is

Frequently called an Orem restaurant and it is not one. The Shops at Riverwoods sits just inside Provo at the far north end of University Avenue, near where the city runs into the canyon mouth.

Provo addresses are grid references rather than house numbers in the usual sense: they count outward from the origin at Center Street and University Avenue, one hundred to a block. What we know about it

It is the valley-wide favorite that landed a northern-Provo location rather than a Provo original, and our coverage treats it that way: it appears in our pizza guides as the creative counterweight to Slab's student-classic slices, and in our group and date-night writing as the room that handles a table of adults who want a drink with dinner -- a shorter list here than in most markets.

The full bar is the structural point. In a city where a full liquor license narrows the field considerably, the set of rooms that can serve a proper drink alongside dinner is small enough that our coverage names them individually.
