Rotary Park is Provo's free pickleball hub. Eight dedicated outdoor courts share the park with tennis courts, a baseball field and a softball field, which is why the lot at 1460 North 1500 West can be busier on a summer evening than parks twice its size.

The founding, on a sign
The park's Rotary history marker tells how Provo began. By its account, about 30 men, a few with families, left Salt Lake City at the end of March 1849, reached the Provo River near today's Geneva Road and 200 North, and started building Fort Utah on April 3: two facing rows of eleven cabins forming a fort of about an acre and a half, finished in six weeks. Other accounts, including the 1941 monument in North Park, date the settlement to March 12, so treat the exact day as disputed.
Using the park
Beyond the courts there is a playground, a sand volleyball court, restrooms and a reservable pavilion. Don't confuse this park with American Fork's Rotary Park, a separate place about 25 minutes north that also takes pavilion reservations.
