Bianca's La Petite French Bakery

Bakery · Provo · 90 W Center St

Bianca's La Petite French Bakery is the small family-run French bakery on Center Street across from the Provo City Center Temple -- kro-nuts, macarons, laminated croissants, custom cakes -- and the downtown dessert stop our coverage names when the plan is a pastry and a coffee.

Where it is

At 90 West Center Street, on the north side of Center a block west of University Avenue, a few steps from the temple.

Provo addresses are grid references rather than house numbers in the usual sense: they count outward from the origin at Center Street and University Avenue, one hundred to a block. Our guide to how Utah addresses actually work explains why the same number means a different place in the next city over.

What we know about it

The kro-nut, a croissant-doughnut hybrid, is what the bakery is known for, and our desserts guide lists the rotating macaron spread, cheesecake, savory breakfast pastries, coffee and gelato behind it. Our breakfast guide is blunter about what it is for: not breakfast in the sit-down sense, but the correct answer when a croissant and a coffee is the entire plan.

The fact our coverage returns to most is Sunday. Most dessert spots in the valley close on Sundays, and our desserts guide names Bianca's as the notable exception, open Sunday afternoons -- confirm before you go, but that is the durable shape of it. It also takes custom cake orders, which in a county that runs on celebration cakes for homecomings, showers and open-house wedding receptions is a practical thing to know.

It earns its place in our brunch guide by geography as much as by food. Guru's, The Kolache Place, Bianca's, Communal and Station 22 sit within a few blocks of each other on or near Center Street, the highest brunch density in the valley, and the classic dessert-crawl route our guide sketches ends here: dinner on Center, then a short walk for a French pastry. The bakery reopened downtown in 2015 after an earlier life supplying pastry to local clubs and churches, which is the family history behind the name.

Everything we have written about it

This is every page on Provo.com that names Bianca's La Petite French Bakery, most substantial first. The directory exists to route you into the writing rather than to replace it.

The durable facts, and the ones we refuse to carry

We do not publish opening hours, prices, phone numbers or ratings for any venue in this directory. Those are the facts that go stale, and a directory carrying them is wrong within a season while still looking authoritative. For hours, ask the restaurant.
