Pizza Pie Cafe is the all-you-can-eat pizza, pasta and salad-bar buffet -- a regional chain that grew out of a family pizza parlor in Delta, Utah -- and the standing group-feeding answer in our cheap-eats, family and student-budget writing.

Where it is

At 573 West 1600 North in Orem, west of State Street. This is an Orem restaurant: the Provo store on University Parkway has closed.

What we know about it

The address correction is the most useful thing this directory can say about it, which is why three of our guides repeat it in almost the same words. Pizza Pie Café's buffet used to be the default answer to the cheap-lunch and feed-the-family questions in Provo. The Provo store closed, the business announced it on its own Facebook page, and the restaurant now trades in Orem at 573 W 1600 N. Several review and directory sites still carry the old Provo listing as though it were open, so a search for a buffet in Provo can send you to a closed door.

What it is for has not changed. Our cheap-eats guide calls it the other standing all-you-can-eat option in the valley, built for exactly the group-with-an-appetite-and-a-budget problem it solves, and our student-budget guide lists it as the Orem entry for the same reason. Our family guide had it as the standard buffet answer before the move and keeps it, corrected.

As everywhere in this directory, no prices are printed. Buffet pricing moves, and the durable facts are the format and the city. The chain's own story starts in 1982 with a Main Street pizza house in Delta, which is the kind of Utah-rural origin our food-history coverage tends to find behind the valley's chains.
