In Orem, Lehi and the rest of north Utah County, pet licenses come from the North Utah Valley Animal Shelter (NUVAS) in Lindon: $15 a year for a spayed or neutered dog or cat, $35 if not. You need a current rabies certificate, and you can license online.

Details below are from NUVAS's licensing, lost-and-found and animal control pages, and Orem City's animal control page, read Nov. 7, 2026.

Licensing your pet

NUVAS says pets must be at least four months old with a current rabies vaccination, and you're required to license within 30 days of getting a new pet or moving to Utah County. The license and rabies tag must be on the collar at all times.

License Spayed or neutered Not spayed or neutered
1 year $15 $35
2 years $25 $65
3 years $35 $95

To license online: pick the license, choose new or renewal, and upload your pet's rabies certificate from the vet, showing the clinic, tag number and vaccination dates. NUVAS says "a picture of the rabies tag by itself does not qualify." Staff review it, and the tag arrives by mail. You can also buy in person at the shelter, at some city offices (American Fork, Cedar Hills, Lindon, Lone Peak Public Safety and Saratoga Springs) and at participating vet clinics.
