Craft Nights in Utah Valley, Night by Night: The Studios, the Free Stitch Night, the Library and the Ward

Which Utah Valley craft studios, stitch nights and classes run on which evening: The Wick Lab, The Soap Factory, a free Thursday stitch night, library crafts.

Utah Valley's craft nights cluster on a few evenings and vanish on others. Friday and Saturday fill first. Monday is quieter, partly because Church buildings close that night for family time. Sunday is dark. This guide sorts the valley's recurring craft options by night, so you can pick an evening first and a craft second.

For what each studio experience is like, how to dress and how to plan a group outing, our guide to craft studios and paint nights goes deeper on The Wick Lab, SCERA's Paint the Night and Provo Recreation's paint-along. This page is the calendar view. Hours are as listed on Google or each business's site in October 2026.

Monday

The Wick Lab, 271 North University Avenue, Provo. Open 3 to 9 p.m. A pour-your-own candle studio: you pick up to three of its fragrances to blend, set a wick and pour. The FAQ prices candles from $24.99 to $36.99 depending on the container, materials included, plus a $1 booking fee per person. Plan 45 minutes to an hour. Walk-ins are taken if there is room.

The Soap Factory, 54 West Center Street, Provo. Listed open 6 to 9 p.m. A make-your-own soap studio on Center Street, a block from the Wick Lab, so the two make an easy downtown pairing.

A note on Monday. The Church's General Handbook (section 20.5.3) says no Church activities should be held after 6 p.m. on Mondays and that leaders ensure Church buildings are closed on Monday nights. A family or roommates' craft night at a studio fits the evening; a ward craft night does not. Our guide to starting a craft group covers scheduling a ward or neighborhood group.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Both studios keep their Monday hours. Tuesday is also when the specialty shops are at their quietest, which makes it the best evening to ask questions:

Thursday: the stitch night

Petit Fours & Purls, Lehi. Every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., this yarn shop and tea room runs Stitch Night. Entrance is free; tea and treats are for sale. It is the most reliable free, recurring craft gathering we found in the valley, and it suits a newcomer: bring whatever you are knitting or crocheting, or buy yarn and ask for help starting.

The move. The shop announced that its last day at 98 West Main Street, Suite B (around back, upstairs) would be October 31, 2026, and that it would reopen at 130 West Main Street, half a block west and next door to Pioneer Party, around mid-November. The new space is on the ground floor and, the owner wrote, more accessible. The tea parties are ending with the move; the yarn, classes and stitch nights continue. Check the shop's site or social accounts before the first Thursday in November.

From downtown Provo, Lehi's Main Street is about 22 minutes by car (OSRM routing, no traffic). Our yarn shop guide covers the Provo options closer to campus.

Dave's Bernina, 2017 North 550 West, Provo. The dealer's class calendar includes short, cheap project classes. In fall 2026 it listed a Candy Wrapper Class, $15, on October 22 and November 21, which teaches sewing bags and zip pouches from saved candy and food wrappers, and Embroidery Club sessions at $15. Confirm times on its calendar.

Friday

The Wick Lab stays open to 10 p.m. on Fridays, its latest night. The Soap Factory keeps its 6 to 9 p.m. hours. Heindselman's Yarn and Needlework, 176 West Center Street, Provo, stays open to 8 p.m. on Fridays; Google reviewers describe a table in the middle of the shop where knitters sit and work together.

SCERA in Orem also runs a monthly watercolor Paint the Night; the craft studios guide has its schedule and registration.

For a date, these pair well with dinner; our date night activities guide and cheap date ideas have more.

Saturday

Saturday has the most options and the most competition for seats.

Sunday

Every studio, yarn shop and craft store in this guide is closed on Sunday. If you want a Sunday project, buy supplies on Saturday.

The library

Utah Valley's public libraries run craft programs, but in fall 2026 they skewed young. The Orem Public Library's calendar listed Teen After Hours nights for grades 7 to 12, both 7 to 9 p.m.: a Friendsgiving night on Saturday, November 21, and a holiday party with crafts and a hot chocolate bar on Saturday, December 12, at the Hillcrest Park Center. A Winnie the Pooh Day craft evening for all ages is set for Monday, January 25, 2027. We did not find a recurring adult craft night on the Orem calendar this fall.

The Orem library also has a makerspace; our guide to makerspaces and tool libraries covers what is in it. For children's classes on a schedule, see kids' art, music and craft classes.

What is the best craft night for a big group?
