UVU Women's Soccer 2026: Unbeaten in Its First Big West Season, and the Home Stretch at UCCU Stadium

UVU soccer is 3-0-2 in its first Big West season after four straight WAC titles. The results, coach Chris Lemay, the last home matches and how to go.

Of all the UVU teams starting over in the Big West this year, women's soccer has made the move look easiest. The Wolverines are unbeaten in conference play at 3-0-2 with five league matches left, including a road win at preseason co-favorite Cal Poly on October 10. Here is how the season has gone, the coach behind the program's run, and the last three chances to see them at home this fall.

How it has gone

The honest part first: UVU started 0-2-1 against Michigan, Utah and Utah State, and all four of its losses have come against nonconference teams, three of them by a single goal.

Then the season turned. On August 27, UVU beat No. 17 Kansas of the Big 12 at home. Kansas scored first, then Malia Jessop came off the bench and headed in a Nixan Jackson cross in the 36th minute, and Sadie Beardall put in a loose ball two minutes later. Freshman goalkeeper Madeleine Boucher made four saves. "I thought Madeleine did unbelievable as a freshman in goal," coach Chris Lemay said afterward. Wins over Washington State and New Mexico State in Honolulu followed.

The Big West opener was a 7-1 win over Cal State Bakersfield. Since then UVU has drawn at UC San Diego despite outshooting the Tritons 31-13, won at UC Irvine, drawn at home with Cal State Fullerton, the team picked third, and won at Cal Poly, which was picked to share first. Of the top three preseason picks, UVU has played two and lost to neither.

The coach: Chris Lemay

Chris Lemay took over UVU women's soccer in 2017 and has built it into one of the most consistent winners in UVU's athletic department.

His last WAC team went 9-0-1 in league play, outscored conference opponents 43-7, and finished the WAC era on a 32-match regular-season unbeaten streak.

What stands out about how he leads is how he talks about it. When he reached 100 wins, his response was, "I didn't win any of these games on my own." After the Kansas win, his first words were about his players: "I'm super proud of the players' performance and their commitment level." His teams keep producing award winners, too. Last season UVU had the WAC's Offensive Player of the Year, its Defensive Player of the Year and four other all-conference players. His staff includes assistants Sydney Bushman, Carter Johnson and Vess Pearson, and goalkeeper coach Devin Zimmerman.

The players to watch

Mia Owens, defender, senior. The 2025 WAC Defensive Player of the Year started all 22 matches last season and was named to the Big West preseason coaches' team.

Josie Clawson, midfielder, redshirt junior. Second-team All-WAC last year with five goals and five assists, and a preseason coaches' team pick.

Nixan Jackson, forward, senior. First-team All-WAC with 10 assists in 2025, which ranked 17th nationally. She set up the tying goal against Kansas.

Madeleine Boucher, goalkeeper, freshman. Started in goal for the Kansas upset and made six saves in the draw at UC San Diego.

UCCU Stadium

UVU's soccer teams play in UCCU Stadium, a $30 million soccer-specific stadium that opened in August 2025 with a 2-0 win over Utah. In its first season UVU went 9-1-2 there and drew 18,035 fans over 12 dates, an average of 1,503 a match that ranked 12th in the nation. Our UVU game-day guide covers the stadium, the student deck, and the summer pro soccer played there.

The bottom line

UVU women's soccer left the WAC after four straight titles and has not lost a Big West match yet. With a road win at Cal Poly already in hand and Santa Barbara still to come, the Wolverines have a real chance to win the league in their first year in it.
