Fall sports

Women's soccer

Coach: Chris Lemay (10th season) · Plays at: UCCU Stadium · Season: August to early November

The best start of any UVU team in the new league. Through October 10 the Wolverines were 7-4-3 and unbeaten in the Big West at 3-0-2, with a road win at preseason co-favorite Cal Poly and a home upset of No. 17 Kansas. Lemay has won five WAC regular-season titles, including four straight from 2022 to 2025. Full story: UVU women's soccer 2026.

Men's soccer

Coach: Michael Chesler · Plays at: UCCU Stadium · Season: August to November

Quietly one of the best teams on campus this fall: 7-1-2 overall and 3-1 in the Big West through October 10, unbeaten at home, with wins over Pacific, Santa Clara, Marshall, UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton. Two home matches remain: CSUN on Saturday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m., a doubleheader with women's soccer, and Oregon State on Saturday, October 24, at 6 p.m., Senior Night.

Volleyball

Coach: Sam Atoa (28th season) · Plays at: Lockhart Arena · Season: August to November

Last year's WAC champion and NCAA Tournament team has had a hard first Big West season at 4-14 and 2-4 through October 10, with a young roster that won its first two league matches. Atoa has more than 500 career wins. Full story: UVU volleyball's first Big West season.

Cross country

Coach: Scott Houle (cross country and track and field) · Season: September to November

Men's and women's cross country both compete in the Big West.

Winter sports

Men's basketball

Coach: Todd Phillips (fourth season) · Plays at: UCCU Center · Season: November to March

UVU's biggest draw. Back-to-back outright WAC regular-season titles, back-to-back NITs, and a 63-61 loss in last season's WAC final that kept the program out of its first NCAA Tournament by one shot. The Big West debut is December 3 at Long Beach State, and the opener is November 2 against Western Colorado. Full story: UVU men's basketball 2026-27.

Women's basketball

Coach: Dan Nielson · Plays at: UCCU Center · Season: November to March

The Wolverines went 16-15 last season, finished fourth in their final WAC season, and made the postseason for the second year in a row before losing at San Francisco. Cambree Blackham led the team with 16 points in that game.

Wrestling

Coach: Adam Hall (third season) · Plays at: Lockhart Arena · Season: November to March

The one UVU sport that did not move to the Big West. Wrestling competes in the Big 12, which means duals in Orem against major-conference programs. Hall came to UVU after nine seasons as an assistant at North Carolina State.

Indoor track and field

Coach: Scott Houle · Season: January to March

Spring sports

Baseball

Coach: Nate Rasmussen · Plays at: UCCU Ballpark · Season: February to May

UVU baseball made the 2025 NCAA Tournament and beat Oregon in its opener. In 2026, first baseman Hunter Katschke hit a school-record 22 home runs and outfielder Kaden Carpenter hit .338 with 17 homers; both were first-team All-WAC. The ballpark's grass berm down the left-field side is one of the best cheap evenings in the valley.

Softball

Coach: Cody Thomson (sixth season) · Season: February to May

The 2026 team had the program's most wins since 2013, broke 10 team records, and went 13-5 against in-state opponents. Thomson, who won his 100th game in March 2026, has signed an extension through 2028 and was pitching coach for USA Softball's gold-medal team at the 2023 Pan American Games. Athletic director Jared Sumsion credits him with building "a team-first culture."

Golf

Coaches: Chris Curran (men), Juli Erekson (women) · Season: fall and spring

Tickets and getting in

Students get free tickets through The Den, UVU's student section, and can claim extras for family and friends. You have to reserve in advance online with your UVU ID number as the offer code; an ID at the door is not enough. Everyone else buys through UVU Athletics, and prices are low. Volleyball seats started at $8 this season. Parking is free in regular student and employee lots after 5 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends.

Our UVU game-day guide has the full ticket steps, the venue-by-venue guide and the parking details. For the rest of student life, start with the UVU student guide.

The bottom line

UVU has no football team, but it has 14 Division I teams, four venues on one campus, free student tickets to all of them, and a new conference that brings better opponents to Orem every week. The soccer teams are the ones to see this fall, and basketball takes over in November.

UVU's arenas also host many high school state championships; see the Utah high school sports calendar. For the other school in the valley, see BYU vs. UVU, and for BYU's rivalry with Utah, the Holy War, explained.
