Renting a gown

A rental package covers five consecutive days, your choice of sleeves, alterations and a veil, for $550 to $700. The process, as the shop describes it:

  1. Consultation. A one-on-one appointment with a bridal consultant, where you try on gowns and the sleeve selection.
  2. Fitting. A separate appointment with a seamstress, who fits the gown to you and sews on the sleeves you chose.
  3. Return. Bring it back after your five-day rental; the shop cleans the gown and removes your alterations.

Sleeve styles on its site include cap, elbow-length puff, satin flutter, cape, lace, bell, bishop and sparkle sleeves.

Buying a gown

Purchased gowns run $1,000 to $2,500, and the price includes further customizations, a veil and standard alterations. The About page says the in-house designer creates a purchased gown from scratch, with changes to necklines, lengths, materials, colors and laces available. Ask your consultant what each change adds to the price.

Booking

The shop is strictly by appointment. It says weekday appointments are usually booked about a week ahead and weekend appointments about two weeks ahead, asks that children under 8 stay home, and cancels a consultation if the bride is 15 or more minutes late. Book through the scheduler on its homepage, by phone or by email.

The history

The About page says the shop has served brides since 1976. Its founder, Pamela, began by offering bodices, skirts and sleeves that brides could mix and match. Pamela and David Weight handed the shop to Taylor, who had worked there as a seamstress for years, in January 2020; she is now the owner and designer.
