Where Utah Valley Couples Honeymoon: What the Data Can Tell You, What It Can't, and Which Honeymoon Destinations Are Nonstop From SLC and Provo

No one publishes where Utah County couples honeymoon. Here is the national survey data that exists and which honeymoon spots fly nonstop from SLC and PVU.

We wanted to answer the question in the title with numbers: a ranked list of where couples from Provo, Orem and the rest of Utah County go on their honeymoons. That list does not exist. We looked for a local or Utah survey, a travel-agency report, airline origin-destination data broken out for honeymooners, or anything from a state agency, and found nothing that measures it. Any article that ranks "where Utah couples honeymoon" without naming a dataset is guessing, and we are not going to.

What does exist is solid national survey data on honeymoons, and published flight schedules that show which of those destinations you can reach without a connection from Salt Lake City or Provo. That combination answers the practical version of the question: where do couples like you go, and how easy is it from here?

For the softer side of the planning (minimoons, delayed trips, Utah escapes), see our honeymoon ideas for Utah Valley couples. This page is the numbers.

The national data, and what it covers

The source with a named method is The Knot. Its honeymoon cost article cites two pieces of research:

What it reports:

Measure Finding
Average honeymoon cost $5,300
Typical length About seven days
Stayed in the U.S. (2024) 41%, up from 38% in 2023
Planned a tropical getaway 48%

Top U.S. states: Hawaii, Florida and California. Top international regions: the Caribbean and Mexico, with Europe third. The Knot gives no percentages for individual destinations.

Two cautions before you lean on it. First, it is national; local ages, budgets and school calendars can differ from a national sample in ways it does not capture. Second, it is a wedding-planning company's survey of its own audience, not a government statistic. It is still the best published picture of what couples choose.

What is nonstop from Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City International is the airport for nearly every international or Hawaii honeymoon from Utah Valley. We checked FlightsFrom's schedule data, which compiles published airline timetables, on October 19, 2026, for the destinations The Knot's couples favor. FlightsFrom is useful and sometimes disagrees with itself on weekly counts; where it did, we say so.

Hawaii

Island airport Airline (nonstop) Frequency listed Flight time listed
Honolulu, Oahu Delta, Alaska One daily each 6 h 34 m to 7 h 12 m
Kahului, Maui Delta Daily 6 h 31 m to 7 h
Kona, Big Island Delta Daily from Nov. 9, 2026 6 h 41 m to 7 h

FlightsFrom lists Hawaiian Airlines' last SLC-Honolulu flight as April 21, 2026. We found no FlightsFrom nonstop route page for Lihue on Kauai, so plan on a connection there.

Mexico and the Caribbean

Destination Airline (nonstop) Frequency listed Flight time listed
Cancun Delta Daily 4 h 28 m to 4 h 48 m
Puerto Vallarta Delta Five a week 3 h 30 m to 3 h 47 m
Los Cabos Delta Four a week, or daily 3 h 4 m to 3 h 27 m

The Los Cabos page gave two different frequencies, four a week in one place and daily in another. We found no FlightsFrom nonstop route page from SLC to Liberia, Costa Rica.

Europe

City Airline (nonstop) Frequency listed Flight time listed
Paris (CDG) Delta Daily 9 h 55 m to 10 h 15 m
Amsterdam Delta, KLM 10 a week 9 h 25 m to 10 h
London Heathrow Delta Five a week 9 h 35 m to 9 h 45 m

We found no nonstop route page for Rome. Amsterdam, Paris and London are also connection points onward to the rest of Europe.

What FlightsFrom says about fares. Its route pages show approximate round-trip prices by month, which it describes as estimates based on user searches, not fares you can book. For Paris it listed October as the cheapest month (about $929) and January as the most expensive (about $3,871); for Amsterdam, January was cheapest (about $749) and June most expensive (about $2,109); for London, March was cheapest (about $733) and February most expensive (about $2,108). Treat these as a sense of the seasons, not a budget.

Getting to SLC is its own decision. Our guide to flying out of SLC from Utah Valley covers parking rates, FrontRunner plus TRAX, and the fact that FrontRunner does not run Sundays.

What is nonstop from Provo

Provo Airport is a domestic airport with three airlines: Allegiant, American and Breeze. Our Provo Airport route-by-route page, checked October 19, 2026, lists every destination. For honeymoons, the useful ones line up with The Knot's top U.S. states:

Hawaii, Mexico and Europe are not nonstop from Provo. A Provo departure to those means a connection, for example through Dallas/Fort Worth on American, the airport's year-round connecting route. Our comparison of PVU and SLC helps decide whether a short drive to Provo is worth a connection.

The passport, if you are leaving the country

The Knot's numbers say most couples leave the U.S. For a first passport or a renewal, the State Department's processing times, checked in October 2026:

The Utah County Clerk's office in Provo is a passport acceptance facility and takes passport photos for $10; our passport guide for Utah County lists the other acceptance offices.

The name question. If one of you is changing a last name, do not rush a new passport before the trip. The county clerk's name-change page says you can keep using a valid passport in your pre-marriage name "as long as your tickets and other travel documents show your name as it appears on your passport." Book the tickets in that name.

How to use all of this

Put the national data and the flight schedules together, and a few patterns are plain:

If you would rather drive than fly, our Utah honeymoons within four hours lists seven trips by car.

If school is in session, our guide to getting married during the semester covers the honeymoon window between terms. And if the budget says not yet, a delayed honeymoon is common here; the money side is in our newlywed money guide.

If a reliable Utah-specific honeymoon survey is published, we will add it here. Until then, this is everything the data supports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do most Utah Valley couples go on their honeymoon?
Nobody publishes that. We found no survey, travel-industry report or government dataset that breaks honeymoon destinations down for Utah County or Utah. The closest real data is national: The Knot's 2024 Honeymoon Study found Hawaii, Florida and California were the most popular U.S. states and the Caribbean and Mexico the top international regions, with Europe third.
How much does the average honeymoon cost?
The Knot reports an average of $5,300, based on its study of nearly 17,000 couples married in 2024, with couples spending about seven days. That is a national figure; there is no published Utah-specific number.
Can you fly nonstop from Salt Lake City to Hawaii?
Yes. FlightsFrom's schedule data, checked October 19, 2026, listed nonstop flights from SLC to Honolulu on Delta and Alaska (one daily flight each), to Kahului on Maui on Delta (daily), and to Kona on Delta beginning November 9, 2026. Hawaiian Airlines' last listed SLC-Honolulu flight was April 21, 2026. We found no nonstop listing for Lihue on Kauai.
Can you fly nonstop from Salt Lake City to Mexico beach resorts?
Yes, on Delta. FlightsFrom listed nonstop SLC flights to Cancun (daily, about 4.5 to 5 hours), Puerto Vallarta (five a week in its schedule, about 3.5 hours) and Los Cabos (its pages gave both four a week and daily, about 3 to 3.5 hours). Airlines change schedules seasonally, so check the airline for your dates.
What European cities are nonstop from Salt Lake City?
In October 2026, FlightsFrom listed nonstop SLC flights to Paris (Delta, daily, about 10 hours), Amsterdam (Delta and KLM, 10 a week) and London Heathrow (Delta, five a week). We found no nonstop listing for Rome.
Are there honeymoon flights from Provo Airport?
Only domestic ones. Provo's airlines (Allegiant, American and Breeze) fly nonstop to cities including Orlando, Orlando-Sanford in winter, Santa Ana/Orange County, Las Vegas and San Francisco, according to our October 2026 route check. For Hawaii, Mexico or Europe nonstop, you fly from Salt Lake City.
How long does a passport take for a honeymoon?
The State Department says routine processing takes 4 to 6 weeks and expedited processing 2 to 3 weeks for an extra $60, and that mailing time is not included: up to two weeks to reach the agency and up to two weeks for the passport to come back. Apply as soon as you set a date.
Can I travel on my passport in my maiden name after the wedding?
Yes. The Utah County Clerk's name-change page says you can keep using a valid passport in your pre-marriage name as long as your tickets and other travel documents show your name as it appears on the passport.
