Reception Centers in Utah Valley, City by City: Where They Are, Which Temple They're Near and What to Ask

Wedding reception centers in Provo, Orem, Lindon, American Fork, Lehi, Saratoga Springs and Spanish Fork, mapped to the nearest temple, with questions to ask.

A reception center is a room built for one job: a few hundred people, a cake, a receiving line and a parking lot, on a Friday or Saturday night. Utah Valley has dozens. This page sorts them by city and by which temple they sit near, then points to profiles of six of the largest, written from each venue's own published information.

What these rooms cost is a separate question; our reception venue prices guide compares the venues that publish their rates.

Our Utah Valley wedding venues guide sorts venues by style (garden, golf course, mountain). This page answers the logistics question instead: after the sealing, where can the party get to in time?

How we built this list

The six profiles

Venue City Largest published capacity Nearest temple (approx. drive)
Utah Valley Convention Center Provo 1,080 at banquet rounds Provo City Center (5-min walk)
Sleepy Ridge Orem 700 flowing reception Orem (5 min)
Northampton House American Fork 385 standing Mount Timpanogos (7 min)
Wadley Farms Lindon 350 open-flow (Castle) Lindon (5 min)
The Ivory Hall Provo 300 (homepage); about 200 seated Provo City Center (8-min walk)
River Bridge Event Center Spanish Fork not published as a total Payson (13 min)

Capacity terms are each venue's own. "Flowing," "open-flow" and "standing" all describe a come-and-go reception, which our open-house reception explainer covers.

The questions to ask every venue

Prices and packages differ so much that the useful comparison is a list of questions, asked the same way at each venue:

  1. What are the seated and open-flow capacities of the room we would use? Get both numbers.
  2. What hours does the rental cover? The Ivory Hall publishes 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Wadley Farms publishes 2 to 10 p.m. or 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Setup time is part of the day.
  3. Can we bring our own caterer? Policies range from open to in-house only.
  4. Are other events booked the same day? Sleepy Ridge says it hosts one wedding at a time; ask everyone.
  5. What is included? Tables, chairs, linens, decor, staff, sound, cleanup.
  6. Can the room host a ring ceremony and then flip to a reception? How long does the flip take, and does it cost extra? See our ring ceremony explainer.
  7. How much parking, and where does overflow go?
  8. What is the deposit, and what happens if we change the date?

Then compare totals with catering added back. Our reception center or backyard comparison and budget guide explain why the lowest rental is not always the lowest total.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which reception centers are closest to the Provo City Center Temple?
The Utah Valley Convention Center, about a quarter mile on foot by OpenStreetMap routing, and The Ivory Hall at 388 West Center Street, about 0.4 mile. White Willow at 342 North 500 West is about 0.8 mile. The Startup Building and The Bright Building are a few blocks south.
Which Utah Valley reception center holds the most guests?
Of the venues we checked, the Utah Valley Convention Center in downtown Provo lists the largest room: its Grand Ballroom holds up to 1,080 guests at banquet rounds, according to its weddings page. Sleepy Ridge in Orem lists up to 700 for a flowing reception in its Sunset Room.
What is the difference between a seated capacity and an open-flow capacity?
Seated is how many guests the room holds at tables for a dinner. Open-flow, flowing or standing capacity is how many can be in the room at once for a come-and-go reception. Because guests at an open house arrive and leave across the evening, the total who attend can be higher than either number.
Do Utah Valley reception centers let us bring our own caterer?
It varies. The Ivory Hall and Sleepy Ridge say on their sites that you hire your own caterer, and Northampton House lists an open vendor policy. The Utah Valley Convention Center requires its own kitchen except for an outside wedding cake. Wadley Farms allows outside food in its Barn and Railroad Building but requires a recommended caterer in its Castle.
How far ahead should we book a reception center?
For a peak Saturday, as early as you can. Wadley Farms says its prime weekends generally book a year in advance. Weekday and off-season dates are easier and, at several venues, priced lower.
Which reception centers are near the Mount Timpanogos and Lindon temples?
By uncongested OpenStreetMap routing, the Northampton House in American Fork is about 7 minutes from the Mount Timpanogos temple, and Wadley Farms in Lindon is about 5 minutes from the Lindon temple and 11 from Mount Timpanogos.
Are there reception centers near the Payson temple?
Payson has a few event venues, and Spanish Fork, about 15 minutes north, has a cluster. River Bridge Event Center at 1225 South Main Street in Spanish Fork is about 13 minutes from the Payson temple by uncongested OpenStreetMap routing.
Do reception center prices include tables, chairs and staff?
At most of the venues we checked, tables, chairs and setup are included and catering is separate. The details differ: The Ivory Hall includes a decor library, Sleepy Ridge includes linens and a hostess, and the convention center's per-person packages include the meal. Read each venue's inclusions page and compare totals, not rental fees.
