What was announced

The church's temple site said the groundbreaking is set for Saturday, Dec. 5, 2026, on a 22.48-acre property northwest of the intersection of 3950 North and Center Street. KSL reported that the site sits in Lehi's foothills and that a meetinghouse will be built next to the temple. KSL also reported that the late President Russell M. Nelson announced the temple in April 2024, so the ceremony comes about two and a half years after the announcement.

What it means for Utah Valley

Lehi sits at the north end of Utah County, in the corridor where the valley's population has grown fastest. Our temple visitor guide explains why the area has so many temples and how a new one relieves the others in its district. For Provo, the closest comparison is the rebuild of the Rock Canyon Temple, covered in our new Provo temple explainer.

Dedication timing

No opening or dedication date has been announced. Preliminary site work began in 2025, but the groundbreaking is the formal start of construction. Temples in the region typically hold a public open house before dedication, as the church plans to do for the Salt Lake Temple; see our Salt Lake Temple open house guide.
