Getting Sealed at the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple in American Fork: Scheduling, the November Closure and the North-County Day

Planning a sealing at the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple in American Fork: scheduling, the 2026 and 2027 closures, where guests wait and luncheons nearby.

The Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple in American Fork has been sealing couples since 1996, longer than any other temple now operating in Utah County. For families in American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Highland, Alpine, Cedar Hills and Lehi, it is close to home. For a Provo couple, it is a 20-something-minute drive north without traffic. Its maintenance closures fall in late May and mid-November, which shapes two popular wedding windows.

What the Church lists

Closures: November and late May

From the Church's temple page, as listed on October 19, 2026. The page lists Thanksgiving separately, but the closures run together:

2027

Two things to notice:

  1. Mid-to-late November is out in both years. A pre-Thanksgiving wedding needs another temple; the Lindon Utah Temple is about 11 minutes away and is open those weeks in 2026.
  2. Late May 2027 is out, right before Provo City Center's five-week closure (May 31 to July 5). For a June 2027 date, Mount Timpanogos is open again from June 1. Unlike most Utah County temples, its 2027 list does not include July 3, as of October 19, 2026.

Booking the sealing

For the guests outside

The handbook asks couples to invite "only close family members and friends," all of whom must be endowed and hold a current recommend if they are accountable. Everyone else waits on the grounds, which the Church says remain open to the public. With no visitors' center listed here, that wait is outdoors.

Photos

The grounds are a long-standing setting for wedding photos after a sealing. The Church's one firm rule to plan around is on rings: the handbook allows a ring exchange in the sealing room after the ceremony, but says couples "should not exchange rings at any other time or place in a temple or on temple grounds." If parents outside want to see it, plan a ring ceremony at the reception.

For photos off the grounds, American Fork Canyon is close. Our American Fork Canyon guide covers the canyon before you send a photographer up it.

Lunch nearby

The temple is not walkable to restaurants, but American Fork's are a short drive.
