The calendar for Latter-day Saint single adults in Utah Valley runs on three conferences, sorted by age, and on a steady rhythm of dances, firesides and activities that stakes and independent groups keep up all year. The conferences are big, planned months ahead and announced late enough to catch people out; the weekly and monthly activities are small, local and announced almost entirely through the units that run them.

The Age Bands Behind the Calendar
The Church's organization for single members now has two tiers: young single adults, ages 18 to 35, and single adults, 36 and older. The mid-singles wards that once sat between them were ended in 2024, which is why a 34-year-old in Provo is now in a young single adult ward and a 38-year-old usually attends a conventional ward alongside families.
The conference circuit divides the older tier further. The June conference at BYU serves single adults 36 to 45 and still uses the name "mid-single adult," a label that has outlived the wards it once described. Utah County Single Adults, the independent organization behind the Orem conference and the monthly dances, is organized for single adults 46 and older, while welcoming those 36 and up to much of what it runs.
So the practical map is three bands, each with its own conference and its own rhythm:
- 18 to 35: the Utah Area YSA Conference in August, plus the YSA stakes' own dances, firesides and activities all year.
- 36 to 45: the June conference with its dance at BYU.
- 46 and older: the Utah County Single Adult Conference in June, the twice-monthly dances in Orem and Lehi, and a choir that welcomes anyone 36 and older.
June: The Two Older-Singles Conferences
The last week of June is the busiest week of the year for single adults over 35 in Utah County, because both of the older-singles conferences fell inside it in 2026.
The conference for ages 36 to 45. In 2026 it ran June 26 to 28, listed on its registration page as the Utah South Area Mid Single Adult Conference and on an Eventbrite listing as a Central and Southern Utah Area Single Adult Conference for single adults 36 to 45, under the theme "Better Together: Meaningful Connections through Christ." The listings described a weekend of serving in the temple, devotionals, workshops, service opportunities, social events and meals, with a Saturday-night dance and activities at BYU's Ernest L. Wilkinson Student Center. Registration in 2026 was $35 if completed by June 21 and $45 after, with a pay-at-the-door option at check-in.
The Utah County Single Adult Conference. In 2026 it ran for six days, June 23 to 28, under the theme "Anchored in Christ," centered on a meetinghouse at 735 East 800 South in Orem. It is organized for legally single adults 46 and older, with those 36 and older welcome. The 2026 program opened on Tuesday with a keynote by an Area Seventy and a dance, and ran through workshops, a family history center open to participants, speed dancing, and a Friday morning hike to Battle Creek Falls above Pleasant Grove. Saturday's entertainment and dance moved to the UCCU Center on UVU's campus in Orem and were free; UVU's bag rules and metal detectors applied. One price covered all six days, $40 in 2026, and the individual dances were $5.
Two conferences in one week means a single adult of 40 could attend parts of both. The practical constraint is energy rather than eligibility: six nights of dances, workshops and early hikes is a lot to fit around a working week, which is why most people pick their evenings.
August: The Utah Area YSA Conference
For the 18-to-35 tier, the year's big event is the Utah Area Young Single Adult Conference, which has run every summer since 2023 under the theme "Together in Christ." In 2026 it was held August 14 to 16 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, with Christ-centered devotionals, interactive workshops, service projects and social events. Tickets were listed at $50, with an early-bird price of $25 until April 3.
It is a large gathering: the 2024 edition broke two Guinness World Records and featured concerts by Ben Rector, Rachel Platten and Emma Nissen, according to the Church's newsroom. Registration runs through the conference's own website, and the Church's Utah Area pages and local stake pages carry the details.
From Utah Valley it is a trip north. FrontRunner reaches Salt Lake City from Provo and Orem on weekdays and Saturdays but does not run on Sundays, so anyone attending a Sunday portion needs a car or a ride. Asking in your own ward is the simplest way to find a ride.
Every Month: The UCSA Dances and the Choir
Utah County Single Adults, known as UCSA, keeps the most regular public calendar in the valley for the older tier. According to the group's own site, it holds dances on the first and third Fridays of each month in Orem and Lehi, each with instruction, refreshments, a game room and a service project, and it runs a choir open to all single adults 36 and older, rehearsing on Sundays at 5 p.m. in Orem and giving free concerts through the year. The group also lists firesides and other activities.
The twice-monthly rhythm is the point. A conference is a week in June; a dance on the first and third Friday is how people actually meet, become regulars and build the friendships that make the rest of the calendar worth attending. The instruction at the start of the evening matters more than it sounds, because it lowers the barrier for anyone who has not danced in years; the 2026 conference's lounge offered country swing lessons in the same spirit.
YSA Dances, Firesides and the Stake Calendars
For young single adults, the regular calendar is not run by any single organization. It is the combined output of the YSA stakes and wards, the institutes of religion, including the one next to UVU, and the many activities single members organize themselves. In Provo and Orem, where the density of young single members is extraordinary, the volume of dances, firesides, service projects and hikes is difficult to overstate.
That volume is also why there is no master list. Events are announced through the units that run them: in sacrament meeting, through ward and stake messages, on stake social media accounts and, for some stakes, on the Church's local unit pages. The most reliable way in is to be on the records of your young single adult ward and to ask its activity leaders to add you to whatever channel the stake uses. When Next Year's Dates Appear
The pattern from 2026 is the best guide to 2027. The YSA conference's dates were public by mid-March, and its early-bird price ran until April 3, so anyone planning around it should start watching in late winter. The June conferences had registration open by late spring, with the 36-to-45 conference offering a lower price for registering before the final week. None of the three had announced 2027 dates as of September 2026.

Why the Conferences Matter More Than Their Size Suggests
Latter-day Saint wards are drawn by geography, so a single adult's Sunday congregation is decided by an address rather than by choice. In a young single adult ward that can be a lively place to meet people; in a conventional ward, a single adult of 40 may be one of a handful of unmarried members among dozens of families. Either way, the people you worship with each week are the people who happen to live inside your boundary.
The conferences and the regional dances exist to cross those lines. A conference brings together single adults from a whole area for a few days, with devotionals and service giving everyone something to do besides small talk, and a dance at the end of the day giving them a reason to stay. For many people the value is not the program at all; it is the chance to meet dozens of people from other wards who share their stage of life, and then to see some of them again at the next first-Friday dance. That is why the smaller, regular events matter as much as the big weekend: the conference introduces people, and the monthly calendar is where acquaintances become friends.
What a Conference Weekend Looks Like
Programs vary by year and by organizer, but the recent listings share a shape. Devotionals, often with a Church leader such as an Area Seventy as the keynote speaker, anchor the program. Workshops and breakout sessions cover subjects from spiritual growth and emotional wellness to personal development. Service projects put participants to work side by side, which turns out to be one of the easier ways to meet people. Some programs include time for temple service, and a temple recommend is needed for that part. And the days tend to end with a dance, sometimes after a concert or an evening of entertainment.
A few habits make a conference easier. Register early; in 2026 both the YSA conference and the conference for ages 36 to 45 charged less for early registration. Pack for two kinds of event: Sunday dress for devotionals and something comfortable for dancing and service. Plan your evenings rather than trying to attend everything, especially at a six-day conference. And go with at least one friend from your own ward, which makes it easier to start conversations and easier to keep coming back.
If Dances Are Not Your Thing
The dances get the attention, but they are one part of the calendar, and plenty of single adults never go to one. Firesides, evening devotional talks often held on Sunday nights, are a quieter way to meet people over the refreshments afterward. Service projects draw people who would rather work alongside someone than make conversation across a dance floor. Hikes and outdoor activities are common in the warmer months, and the valley's canyons make them easy to organize. Questions to Ask Before You Register
- Which age band is it for? The three conferences serve different ages, and the ranges are specific.
- What does the price include? Some conferences sell one pass for everything; others price dances and meals separately, and some evening events are free.
- Is there a Sunday portion, and how will you get there? FrontRunner does not run on Sundays.
- Does any part require a temple recommend? Programs that include temple service say so.
- Can you pay at the door? Some conferences allow it; others require advance registration.
- Who is organizing it? Area-sponsored conferences, stake events and independent groups like UCSA are all common, and the organizer decides where updates are posted.
For Someone New to the Valley
A single adult who has just moved to Utah Valley can plug into this calendar faster than almost anywhere else, but only by starting local. The order that works:
- Find your ward by address, using the Church's meetinghouse locator, or BYU's own list if you live in BYU housing, and attend.
- Get onto its records by introducing yourself to the ward clerk, so the ward's messages reach you.
- Ask the activity leaders how the stake announces its dances and firesides, and join whatever channel that is.
- Mark the three conferences on your calendar by season: late June for the older tiers, mid-August for young single adults.
- If you are 36 or older, try a UCSA first- or third-Friday dance; the instruction at the start is built for newcomers.
The rest follows from showing up. In a valley with this many single members, the difficulty is rarely finding something to do; it is choosing among the options.
