There is speed dating in Utah Valley, but not much of it, and almost none of it is run by anyone local. When we looked on October 19, 2026, the singles-event landscape sorted into five kinds, each run by a different sort of organizer: national speed-dating companies selling tickets, international "dinner with strangers" groups, Church stakes holding free single adult activities, Utah County Single Adults' dances, and one dating app hosting speed dating inside the app. This page names who runs what, shows what was on the calendar that day, and says plainly where the information came from.
Event listings go stale fast. Treat every date below as a snapshot from October 19, 2026, and confirm with the organizer before you go.
1. Commercial speed dating: national operators, few dates
What we found. On Eventbrite, a company called DateFaster listed:
- Provo Speed Dating, ages 24 to 39, Saturday, November 14, 2026, 2 to 4 p.m.
- Orem Speed Dating, ages 24 to 39, same day, same hours.
Tickets were listed from $12.50 to $28.50. The higher price is a VIP ticket that includes one complimentary drink. Neither listing named a venue publicly; each says you "receive your Eventbrite confirmation with the event information and venue details" after buying.
How it works, per the listing. About five- to six-minute "mini-dates," then rotation. After each round you fill out a private form saying whether you would like to match. "If you select someone and they select you too, it's considered a mutual match," and "mutual match results will be sent to your email the following day." Contact details are exchanged only on a mutual match. You may be asked for photo ID to confirm age.
The pattern to notice. DateFaster listed the identical event, same date and same age band, in Salt Lake City and Ogden. That is the mark of a national operator running the same template in many cities, not a local organizer who knows the Provo crowd. It is not a reason to avoid it, but it is a reason to ask where the event is and how many people have signed up before you pay.
Salt Lake County has more. The same Eventbrite search turned up more frequent speed dating north of the Point of the Mountain, much of it age-banded: listings for singles in their 30s and 40s, 42 to 60, 50s and 60s, and 56-plus, several at a cocktail bar in Holladay, plus a Halloween singles mixer, a queer speed date at a Salt Lake bookstore cafe, and "speed-friending" nights. 2. Dinner with strangers: small tables, booked for you
A second kind of organizer does not do dating at all, but fills a table with people who want to meet people.
- ADDVentures listed "Single Awareness Dinner: Provo" and "Foodies + New Friends" dinners in Provo, at $24.71 per ticket. Its description says its micro-gatherings are "intended to be for 6 people or less," that it books a table through OpenTable, Resy or similar, and that "restaurants are shared with registrants only." The map pin on Eventbrite, it says, is a placeholder.
- Ermantourage UK listed an "Orem Social Club Monthly" dinner on Friday, October 23, 2026, describing "a table of 10 or less" where "you sign up, and we book the restaurant."
These are friendship-first. For someone new to the valley, or anyone who finds speed dating's five-minute clock too much, a small dinner is a lower-pressure way to meet people, and you pay for your own meal.
3. Church stake and multistake singles activities: free, frequent, local
For Latter-day Saints, the steadiest supply of singles events comes from stakes. The Church's General Handbook says activities for single adults 36 and older "take place at the stake and multistake level," planned by single adult committees, and that young single adults may hold ward and stake activities of their own. Stakes post these on the Church's local website, and in October 2026 many were also appearing on Eventbrite under the Church's name, linking back to the local site.

A few details from the listings: the Canyon Glen night promised snacks, s'mores and games and said it would move to the stake center in bad weather. The Spanish Fork group meets "every Monday at 7 PM in the Primary Room," canceled when Monday activities are held elsewhere. The two we checked for price, the Canyon Glen night and the concert, were listed as free.
The Handbook adds one rule that affects who can come: a person who is separated or seeking a divorce "participates in a geographic ward" and may attend activities for single members "when his or her divorce decree is final."

4. UCSA dances: the fixed point on the calendar
Utah County Single Adults (UCSA) is the one singles event in the county with a schedule you can memorize. Its website lists:
- First Friday of each month: 481 E. Center St., Orem. Dance instruction 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., dancing 8:30 to 11:30 p.m., refreshments, a game room and a service project.
- Third Friday of each month: 2150 Pointe Meadow Dr., Lehi. Line dance instruction 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., a service project 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., dancing 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.
- A $5 donation per person, cash only.
- Who: "organized for singles 46 and older. Singles 36 and older are also welcome. All attendees must be legally single." Dress standards are posted (no shorts, mini-skirts, strapless or revealing clothing), and the Church's standards apply.
The Orem dance listing carried an "address change" note when we checked, so confirm the address on UCSA's dances page before the first Friday. 5. Speed dating inside an app
Mutual, the dating app built for Latter-day Saints, says on its App Store page that it is "hosting frequent speed dating sessions." No schedule is posted there, so watch the app itself for announcements.
What is missing, and what to do about it
Utah Valley has no local, regularly scheduled, in-person speed dating series that we could find. The commercial events are occasional and run from outside the state. That gap is part of why the stake activities and UCSA dances carry so much of the load, and why many singles here build their social calendar from rec leagues, clubs and classes instead; our adult rec leagues guide and running clubs guide are two places to start. How to check for yourself in five minutes:
- Search Eventbrite for "speed dating" and "singles" with Provo as the location, and read the organizer name on each result.
- Open your stake's page on the Church's local website for single adult activities.
- Check UCSA's dances page for the first and third Friday.
- Before buying a ticket to a commercial event, ask the organizer for the venue and the current headcount by gender and age.
