Dating Apps in Utah Valley, Compared: Mutual, Hinge, Bumble, Tinder and LDS Singles, What Each Is Built For and What the Paid Tiers Cost

The dating apps Utah Valley singles use, compared from their own app store pages: who each is for, what is free, what the paid tiers include and cost.

Utah Valley singles use the same big dating apps as everyone else, plus one built for the local majority. Which one fits depends less on the app's popularity than on what you want: someone who shares your faith, someone who shares your intentions, or simply more people to meet. Below is what each app says about itself on its own app store page in October 2026, what it costs, and the details that matter in a valley where most people you match with will live within a few exits of you.

We are not ranking apps by size. None of these companies publishes user counts for Utah County, and the numbers you see repeated online are not sourced.

Mutual

What it says it is. Mutual's App Store listing calls it "the largest and fastest-growing dating app for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." That is the company's own claim; it publishes no figures to check it against. The listing says it "was created by BYU grads," and that "all profiles are reviewed by a real person to receive verification."

Who can join. "Although our focus is on members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, anyone can join Mutual as long as they uphold our high standards." The App Store rates it 18+.

What is free and what is not. Mutual is free to use. The premium tier, MutualUp, includes these features according to the listing:

What it costs. The listing says "current MutualUp subscription prices start at $14.99 USD/week," with one-week, one-month, three-month and six-month packages. The App Store's in-app purchase list showed a range from $7.99 to $71.99, including a one-month MutualUp at $14.99, $15.99 and $24.99 (Apple shows several price points for the same package), six months at $59.99 and $71.99, a one-day Profile Boost at $7.99 and a three-pack of Notes at $8.99.

The local detail. Ward Hop is useful in a valley this long. Moving your location lets someone in Provo see who is in Lehi or Spanish Fork, or lets you match ahead of a move. The listing also mentions "frequent speed dating sessions" inside the app.

Mutual is on Google Play as well as the App Store; its Play listing showed "500K+" downloads in October 2026. That is a nationwide figure, not a Utah one.

Hinge

What it says it is. "The dating app for people who want to get off of dating apps," with the slogan "designed to be deleted."

How it works. Profiles combine photos, video, voice and written prompts. Every match "begins by someone liking or commenting on a specific part of your profile." Profiles show "information like religion, height, politics, dating intentions, relationship type, and much more," which makes Hinge a fit when you want faith and intentions visible before the first message. Hinge offers Selfie Verification and follows up after a match exchanges numbers to ask how the date went.

What it costs. Free to use. "Members looking to see everyone who likes them or send unlimited likes can upgrade to Hinge+," and HingeX adds "enhanced recommendations and priority likes." The App Store's purchase list showed Hinge+ at $16.99 and $19.99, other Hinge subscriptions from $14.99 to $34.99, Boosts at $9.99 and $19.99, three Roses for $9.99 and twelve for $29.99.

Bumble

What it says it is. "The women-first dating app designed to create safer, more respectful connections."

The safety features it lists. ID verification ("like the majority of our community"), Share Date "to drop location details with the group chat," Block and Report, Unmatch, a Safety Center, and Snooze Mode to pause without losing matches. You set "Intentions and Looking For" to find people who date the way you do.

What it costs. Free, with Bumble Boost, Bumble Premium and Premium+ adding "advanced filters, extended matches, Incognito Mode, and Travel Mode." The App Store list showed Boost from $2.99 to $12.99, Premium at $17.99, $19.99 and $32.99, and BumbleCoins from $1.99.

Tinder

What it says it is. "The place to meet someone new and see where a spark might lead," matching "with people nearby or around the world."

Features it lists. Prompts and interests on profiles, Double Date (bring a friend along), a way to "let a friend know when you're meeting someone," and multiple profile verification options.

What it costs. Free, with paid tiers. The App Store list showed Tinder Plus at $9.99, Tinder Gold from $13.99 to $24.99, Boosts from $3.99 to $7.99, and Super Like packs at $4.99 and $9.99.

The local reality. Tinder is broad by design. If shared standards matter to you, the apps that let you state faith and intentions up front (Mutual, Hinge, Bumble's Intentions) do more of that filtering for you.

LDS Singles

What it says it is. A dating site and app for Latter-day Saints. Its homepage invites you to "join free," says you can "upgrade to premium anytime for more features," and describes itself as helping members "meet fellow Latter-day Saints singles nearby or across the country." Its footer says LDS Singles LLC "is a wholly owned subsidiary of Black Cap Holdings LLC." The site does not list premium prices on its homepage.

Which one, for whom

Two safety notes that apply to every app

Scams. The Federal Trade Commission's rule is short: "Never send money or gifts to someone you haven't met in person." Its warning signs include a match who wants to move the conversation off the app right away, says they cannot meet because they are abroad, on an oil rig or in the military, and then needs money for a ticket, a medical bill or "help getting started in cryptocurrency investing." Report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and to the app. Where to meet the first time is covered in safe first-date spots in Provo and Orem, and dating across faith lines in dating as a non-member.

The first meeting. Meet somewhere public, tell a friend where you will be, and get yourself there and home. Our date ideas in Provo page is full of daytime, public first-date options.
