Station 22 Café is the converted-firehouse Southern-comfort restaurant on Center Street -- fried chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy, a Nashville chicken sandwich -- and the downtown Provo room this site names more often than almost any other.

Where it is

At 22 West Center Street, on the south side of Center a few doors west of University Avenue -- the old fire station, hence the name and the number.

Two warnings recur in our writing. The first is the number: there are two Station 22s in Utah County, and the other one is in a converted fire station on Main Street in American Fork. They are related but not the same restaurant, so a search that lands on the wrong city is an easy mistake. The second is the schedule shape, which our brunch and breakfast guides flag rather than print in detail -- the kitchen splits into two services with an afternoon gap, and like much of independent downtown Provo it is closed on Sunday. Confirm with the restaurant before planning a late-Sunday-morning brunch around it.

Our fried-chicken survey makes the sharper point: the valley has plenty of chicken counters and comparatively little Southern sit-down cooking, which is why Station 22 stands out rather than blending in. It is the answer when the occasion wants a table, a server and a craft-soda list instead of a counter.
