Every Gym in Utah Valley, Compared: Seven City Rec Centers, the Chains, the Campus Gyms, and Who Opens on Sunday

Utah Valley's gyms compared: seven city rec centers with official 2026 rates and hours, VASA, Planet Fitness, EoS and Anytime locations, and who is open Sunday.

Utah Valley's best-value gyms are run by city governments. Seven cities operate full recreation centers with weights, cardio, courts and classes, and most have pools; their day passes cost $4 to $7 and residents pay less for memberships. Alongside them are four national or regional chains with more than a dozen Utah County locations, two campus gyms with membership rules, and a long tail of independent and boutique gyms.

This page is the county-wide inventory: every city rec center with its official rates and hours, the chain locations, and the practical differences (Sunday, residency, students). For Provo specifically, including boutique studios and climbing, see best gyms in Provo. Rates are as each city published them in October 2026 unless a different date is given; hours for private gyms come from Google's listings checked the same month.

How to choose

  1. Start with your own city's rec center. If you live in Provo, Orem, Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Springville or Spanish Fork, the resident membership is usually the best value with a pool.
  2. Sunday decides more than price. If Sunday is a training day, a city rec center will not work. EoS, Anytime, most VASA clubs and Planet Fitness open that day.
  3. Late nights. Lehi pass holders get until 11 p.m.; most chains run later; most city centers close at 10.
  4. Pool or no pool. For laps, see indoor pools and lap swimming.
  5. Students. Compare Provo's 20 percent student discount and Orem's student membership (Orem accepts proof of enrollment at any educational institution) against your campus gym.
  6. Health plan perks. If your insurance includes a fitness benefit, ask which facilities accept it before you pay.

Winter runners should also read indoor tracks and winter running. If you are coming back from an injury, physical therapy in Utah Valley explains how to start without a referral, and sports medicine covers when to see a physician.
