The Utah County Passport and Marriage License Office in Provo: Hours, Walk-Ins, Fees and What to Bring

The Utah County Clerk's passport and marriage license office at 111 S University Ave, Provo: open until 7:30 p.m. weekdays and Saturday mornings, walk-ins welcome.

One county counter in downtown Provo handles two of the paperwork errands people put off until the last week: a first passport and a marriage license. It keeps unusually long hours for a government office, until 7:30 p.m. on weekdays and open Saturday mornings, and it takes walk-ins. We read the Utah County Clerk's pages and the State Department's fee page on October 20, 2026.

Do not confuse this office with the Utah County Health Department's vital records office down the street, which issues birth and death certificates. Our Utah County vital records guide explains which office does what. If you need a certified birth certificate as proof of citizenship for a passport, that is where you get it.

Passports

The office is a passport acceptance facility: it checks your documents, witnesses your signature and sends the application to the State Department. Appointments are "encouraged but are not required"; walk-ins are served, with appointment holders first, and up to three people can share one appointment.

You pay two parties: the State Department's application fee by check or money order, and Utah County's $35 execution fee (plus $10 if the office takes your photo) by cash, check or card. For a first adult passport book with a photo taken at the office, that is $175 in total.

Everything else, from the DS-11 form and proof of citizenship to children's applications, renewals and urgent travel, is in our full guide to getting a passport in Utah County. The Clerk warns that mailing can take up to two weeks and that there are no passport agency appointments in Utah for urgent travel.

Marriage licenses

The same office issues Utah County marriage licenses. Most couples now apply online, where each partner signs their part, verifies ID with a phone and pays by card; the license is issued immediately as a digital license. You can also apply in person: both of you arrive together with government photo IDs, and you can pay with cash or check.
