Utah Valley University is an open-admissions school. In the words of its admissions office, UVU "does not require a minimum GPA or ACT/SAT score for admissions, nor are there any course requirements." If you submit the required documents, you're in.
Getting in is simple; the timing still takes planning. Here's how it works, from UVU's admissions FAQ and academic calendar, checked Nov. 7, 2026.
The short version
| Admission type | Open admissions |
| Minimum GPA | None |
| Minimum ACT/SAT | None |
| Required high school courses | None |
| Decision time | Up to 2 business days after you apply |
| Document processing | 3 to 5 business days after UVU receives them |
| International processing | 3 to 4 weeks |
How to apply
- Fill out the undergraduate application. Freshmen, transfer students and returning students all use the same one; UVU says "the application process for transfer students is the same as any other undergraduate student."
- Send transcripts if you have college credit. Transfer students may need to send college transcripts. UVU says processing takes three to five business days after they arrive.
- Watch your email. Acceptance letters go out by email once everything is processed, and UVU says to allow up to two business days for the application itself.
- Register. Admission is the easy part; class seats are the hard part. See the dates below.
The dates that actually matter
Because admission is open, the real deadlines are registration deadlines. UVU's admissions FAQ sends applicants to the academic calendar for every date. For the January term:
- Spring 2027 classes begin Monday, Jan. 11, 2027.
- Open registration and the waitlist end Tuesday, Jan. 19 for full-semester classes.
- Tuition is due Wednesday, Feb. 10.
Continuing students registered in October by credits earned, so some sections may already be full when new students sign up. Apply early enough to register for the classes you need. Our UVU Spring 2027 semester dates page has every deadline, and UVU Fall 2027 dates has the main dates for next fall.
What it costs
For 2026-27, full-time tuition and fees are $6,873.10 a year for Utah residents and $19,577.10 for nonresidents. See UVU tuition 2026-27 for the breakdown and our Utah residency guide for how to qualify for the resident rate.
High school students: concurrent enrollment
Students at high schools in UVU's service area may be able to take UVU classes through concurrent enrollment, which has its own admission process. Call 801-863-8376. Our story on UVU's concurrent enrollment scholarship covers a new way to pay for it.
International applicants
International undergraduates pay a $115 application fee, and UVU says to allow three to four weeks for documents to be reviewed. Applicants who aren't native English speakers need a recent English test: an IELTS of 6.0 or a Duolingo score of 100 are among the accepted options, and UVU doesn't accept scores more than two years old.
