UVU Spring 2027 Semester Dates: First Day, Drop and Withdraw Deadlines, Spring Break and Finals

UVU Spring 2027 starts Mon., Jan. 11. Drop with a refund by Feb. 1, pay by Feb. 10, spring break Mar. 15-21, withdraw by Mar. 22, finals Apr. 29-May 5.

Utah Valley University's Spring 2027 semester begins Monday, January 11, 2027 and ends Wednesday, May 5, with commencement that same week. Spring break is March 15 to 21, and full-semester final exams run April 29 through May 5.

UVU calls its January-to-May term "Spring," where BYU calls the same stretch "Winter," which is why searches for UVU's "winter semester" so often turn up nothing. Every date below comes from UVU's own Spring 2027 calendar page, last updated by the university June 30, 2026, and read Nov. 7, 2026.

The semester before it, Fall 2026, ends with full-semester finals December 7 to 11 and an official term end of Saturday, December 12, per UVU's Fall 2026 calendar, which leaves a four-week break before January 11.

Drop, withdraw and the W grade, in plain terms

There are two separate deadlines, and they cost different things.

Dropping a full-semester class by Monday, February 1 removes it with a refund. The same day is UVU's class-change deadline for financial aid, so a schedule change after it may not be reflected in your aid.

Withdrawing from February 2 through March 22 is still allowed, but UVU's calendar marks February 2 as the day the W grade for withdrawn classes begins, and the refund deadline has passed. After March 22 the calendar lists no further withdraw date, so plan on finishing the class. UVU's registration office can explain what a W means for your aid.

If a semester goes sideways, the useful question is whether you're past February 1. Before it, you get a refund. After it, you don't.

Paying tuition

Tuition and fees are due Wednesday, February 10, with online payments accepted until 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time. The late fee starts the next day. That's three weeks after classes start, which is later than many schools, and it's easy to forget once the semester is moving. If you're working toward Utah residency for in-state tuition, our residency guide covers the rules and timing.

Registration, if you're still building a schedule

Priority registration for Spring 2027 ran in late October 2026, by credits earned: 110+ credits on Oct. 19, then 100+, 80+, 60+, 30+ and 15+, and 0+ credits on Oct. 27, each opening at 7 a.m. If you missed your window, you can still register through Tuesday, January 19 for full-semester classes, the last day of open registration and the waitlist period. Late add starts January 20.

Spring break, and how it lines up with everyone else's

UVU's spring break is March 15 to 21, 2027. BYU, Provo City School District and Alpine School District each set their own, and they often don't match, which matters for married students with kids and for anyone planning a trip with family at another school. Our fall break, Thanksgiving and spring break comparison lines up UVU, BYU and Provo schools side by side.

Finals week

Full-semester classes end Tuesday, April 27. Wednesday, April 28 is an interim day with no classes, meant as a study day, and finals run Thursday, April 29 through Wednesday, May 5. Block and weekend classes hold their finals on the last day of class instead. Our finals week survival guide and our list of study spots around Provo and Orem cover where to go when the library fills up.

Graduating this spring

The deadline to apply to graduate in Spring semester is Wednesday, March 31, 2027, and commencement and the college convocations run May 5 to 7. Families coming in for it can use our graduation weekend guide for hotels, parking and restaurants.

What comes after Spring

UVU's future-calendar page already lists Fall 2027: classes begin Wednesday, August 18, 2027; fall break is October 14 to 17; Thanksgiving break is November 22 to 28; and finals run December 6 to 10. Summer 2027 dates weren't posted on that page when we checked.
