What a Wedding DJ or Band Costs in Utah Valley: Published Packages, Hourly Rates and the Do-It-Yourself Sound Rental (2026)

Published Utah wedding DJ prices: a $595 sound rental, $250 to $400 an hour, packages from $1,895 to $3,995, and what a Utah booking agency says bands cost.

Wedding music is the vendor category where Utah Valley publishes the least. Most DJs and bands ask you to call. A few post real numbers, and they cover the three choices couples here make: rent a sound system and run it yourself, hire a DJ by the hour, or book a package with lights and an emcee. We read those pages on October 20, 2026. Every figure below is the business's own, as published that day.

The cheapest option: rent the sound, skip the DJ

Many Utah Valley receptions are open houses where guests come through a line and leave, and the music is background. For that format, Wedding DJ Utah (the wedding arm of Rock The Mic Entertainment, which lists an Orem phone number) publishes a Do-It-Yourself-er rental at $595, varying with travel. It includes delivery, pickup, setup and teardown, a wireless microphone, speaker stands and a hookup for your phone or music player. You control the volume and the playlist.

That is the budget answer for a reception where nobody is dancing. If there will be a first dance, a cake cutting and a send-off, someone has to run the microphone, and that is the case for a DJ. Our open-house reception guide explains how the evening usually runs.

DJs by the hour

Best DJ in Utah, which serves Salt Lake City and the surrounding area, publishes a general rate of $250 to $400 an hour with a $600 minimum for any event. It says the final rate depends on the length of the event, travel, multiple equipment setups and how popular the date is. Every booking includes playlist curation, emcee services, sound equipment, setup and takedown, and a free consultation.

At those rates, a three-hour open house falls between $750 and $1,200 and a five-hour dinner and dance between $1,250 and $2,000, before travel.

DJ packages

Package (Wedding DJ Utah) Price Hours What is in it
Bronze $1,895 3 2 speakers, 2 dance lights, 1 wired mic, playlist
Silver $2,495 5 4 speakers, 4 dance lights, 1 wireless mic, outdoor and ceremony fees included
Gold $3,995 up to 8 8 speakers, 4 dance lights, 40 room uplights, 4 wireless mics

Every package carries a travel fee by wedding location, and the Bronze package adds a $50 cleaning fee for outdoor events. Projectors, photo booths, extra uplighting and dance floors are available as add-ons, without published prices.

OHLR, a Centerville company that lists Provo weddings among its service areas, sells one flat wedding package that includes DJ and emcee, ceremony sound, up to 30 uplights, dance floor lighting and karaoke, and says it charges no travel, change or overtime fees. It does not publish the package price, so you will need a quote.

Live bands

Green Light Booking, a Utah booking agency, published its 2026 band price ranges in May and updated them in September:

Band type Published range
Beginner or semi-professional $2,500 to $5,000
Established professional, 4-piece $7,500 to $12,000
Premium regional, 7 to 9 pieces $12,500 to $20,000+
Specialty or tribute $5,500 to $10,500

The agency says most of its bookings run $7,500 to $15,000 or more. Its page is not consistent with itself: a later section puts a four-piece band at $2,500 to $7,500 and a seven-to-nine-piece act from $10,500. Treat the ranges as a sense of scale and get a written quote from the band.

What changes the price

Before you sign

Ask for the hours, the equipment, the travel fee and the overtime rate in writing, and read the cancellation terms. Our vendor contracts guide covers deposits and cancellations. For the rest of the budget, see the Utah Valley wedding budget guide, wedding photography prices and wedding catering prices.

How we gathered these prices

These prices also feed our Utah County Wedding Cost Study, which reports the median published price in each category. We read each company's own pricing page on October 20, 2026, and copied the published figures. We did not request quotes or estimate unpublished prices. Several Utah Valley DJ companies, including Vezmon Event Services and DJ Cal-X, do not publish prices and are not compared here. A business appears because its prices are public, not because we rank it. If you are a Utah Valley DJ or band with public prices, or a price has changed, email contact@provo.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a wedding DJ cost in Utah Valley?
Few Utah Valley DJs publish prices. Of those that do: Wedding DJ Utah, the wedding arm of Orem's Rock The Mic Entertainment, lists $1,895 for three hours, $2,495 for five and $3,995 for up to eight. Best DJ in Utah, serving Salt Lake City and nearby, lists $250 to $400 an hour with a $600 minimum. Those were the published figures in October 2026.
Can I just rent a sound system for an open-house reception?
Yes. Wedding DJ Utah lists a Do-It-Yourself-er rental at $595, varying with travel, that includes delivery, setup, teardown, a wireless microphone, speaker stands and a hookup for your own music. You run the playlist and the volume.
How much does a live wedding band cost in Utah?
Green Light Booking, a Utah booking agency, published 2026 ranges of $2,500 to $5,000 for beginner or semi-professional bands and $7,500 to $12,000 for an established four-piece, and says most of its bookings run $7,500 to $15,000 or more. Its own page gives a lower range for a four-piece in another section, so ask any band for a written quote.
Is uplighting extra?
It depends on the package. Wedding DJ Utah's $3,995 Gold package includes 40 room uplights, while its Bronze and Silver packages list dance lights only. OHLR, a Centerville company that works Provo weddings, includes up to 30 battery uplights in a single flat package and does not publish the package price.
Do DJs charge for travel to Utah County venues?
Usually. Wedding DJ Utah assesses a travel fee on every package based on the wedding location. Best DJ in Utah says travel, multiple setups and date demand all affect the final rate. OHLR says it charges no travel fees.
How many hours of music does a Utah reception need?
A come-and-go open-house reception is often scheduled for two or three hours, depending on how long the receiving line takes for your guest count, so a three-hour package or an hourly DJ can fit. A dinner and dance reception runs longer; count setup, dinner, toasts and dancing when you choose the hours.
Do DJs charge sales tax or an outdoor fee?
Wedding DJ Utah's Bronze package adds a $50 cleaning fee for outdoor events, while its Silver and Gold packages include outdoor and ceremony fees. Ask any DJ whether tax applies to the quote.
Can we have karaoke at the reception?
Rock The Mic Entertainment, based in Orem, offers karaoke for weddings and advertises mobile karaoke rentals from $149. Check with your venue about volume and end times first.
