Most wedding cost figures you will find are national survey averages, or ranges with no source. This study takes a different approach: it collects only the prices that Utah County wedding businesses publish themselves, one price per business per category, and reports how many businesses stand behind each number. The fall 2026 edition has 72 prices from 43 businesses, all read on October 20, 2026.

Every price below links back, through the guide named in its row, to the business's own page.

The medians

A median is the middle published price: half the businesses that publish this item charge less, half more. We show one only when at least three businesses publish a comparable figure.

Category Businesses Median Range
Reception venue, Saturday rental 6 $3,450 $2,450 to $7,200
Reception venue, Monday to Wednesday 6 $2,150 $1,250 to $5,800
Photography, lowest package with a session 8 $1,575 $1,200 to $2,400
Photography, wedding day only 6 $1,000 $600 to $1,750
Bridal session alone 3 $400 $300 to $400
Videography, temple or ceremony plus reception 4 $1,950 $1,250 to $4,000
Catering, lowest buffet dinner, per guest 4 about $20.50 $16.50 to $25
Catering service charge or gratuity 3 19% 15% to 25%
Bridal bouquet 4 $238 $125 to $300
Boutonniere 4 $16.50 $15 to $20
Reception centerpiece 3 $55 $45 to $75
Tiered cake, per serving 3 $6.94 $6.18 to $10
Bride's hair and makeup, wedding day 5 $400 $250 to $600
Bridesmaid's hair and makeup 3 $300 $260 to $300

Where too few businesses publish to call a median

Item Businesses Published range
Open-house reception menu, per guest 2 $12.50 to $14
DJ, lowest package or minimum 2 $600 to $1,895
Wedding dress rental 2 $300 to $550
100 double-sided announcements 2 $220 at both
20 x 20 party tent 1 $350
15 x 15 dance floor 1 $450

Some categories are thin because few businesses publish prices at all. Most Utah Valley DJs, bridal shops and decor companies quote by phone. That is itself useful to know: in those categories, ask for a written quote before you assume anything.

How to read these numbers

They are starting prices. Every figure is the lowest price a business lists for that item. Design, extra hours, guests and add-ons raise it. The individual guides show what each starting price includes.

They are not a random sample. Businesses that publish prices may differ from those that do not; a high-end florist that quotes privately is not in the bouquet median. Treat the medians as "what you will see when you look," not "what everyone pays."

Categories are matched carefully, not perfectly. The hair-and-makeup median mixes artists who price hair and makeup together with one who prices makeup alone (with the trial included). The cake figure divides each baker's starting price by its own serving estimate, and bakers count servings differently. The notes in each guide explain these choices.

One price per business. A photographer with ten packages contributes one figure to each metric: its lowest package that fits the definition.

What the medians add up to

As an illustration only, here is what the medians build for a Saturday open-house reception with 250 guests, using the cheaper of each choice where the study offers one:

Line Basis Amount
Venue, Saturday Median $3,450
Photography with a session Median $1,575
Reception food, 250 guests Lower published reception menu, $12.50 $3,125
Service charge on the food Median 19% $594
Bridal bouquet and 6 boutonnieres Medians $337
Bride's hair and makeup Median $400
100 announcements Published price $220
Total before tax, cake, music, dress and rings $9,701

Change the day to a Monday through Wednesday and the venue median drops by $1,300. Add video at the median and it rises by $1,950. Our Utah Valley wedding budget guide covers the lines this table leaves out.

The guides behind the data

Each category has its own guide with every business, every price and every source:

Method and use

We read each business's own website on October 20, 2026, and recorded its published starting price for each item it lists. We did not survey couples, request quotes, estimate unpublished prices, or use third-party directories. A business is included because its prices are public, not because we recommend it, and no business paid to be included. The study is refreshed each spring and fall.

The full dataset, with every business and price, is available at provo.com/data/wedding-cost-study-2026.json. You are welcome to use it; please cite "Provo.com, Utah County Wedding Cost Study, Fall 2026" and link to this page. Businesses that want their published prices included in the spring edition can email contact@provo.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a wedding cost in Utah County?
It depends almost entirely on the format and the guest count, which is why this study reports prices by category rather than a single total. From 72 prices that 43 local businesses published on their own websites in October 2026, the median Saturday venue rental was $3,450, the median photography package with a bridal or engagement session was $1,575, and the median bride's wedding-day hair and makeup was $400.
Where do these numbers come from?
Every figure is a starting price a Utah County wedding business published on its own website, read on October 20, 2026. We did not survey couples, request quotes, or use directory sites. Each price is linked to its source in one of our eleven price guides.
How much is a reception venue in Utah County?
Among six venues that publish day-of-week rates, the median Saturday rental was $3,450 (range $2,450 to $7,200) and the median Monday to Wednesday rental was $2,150 (range $1,250 to $5,800).
How much is a wedding photographer in Utah County?
Among eight photographers' published packages, the lowest package that includes a bridal or engagement session had a median of $1,575 (range $1,200 to $2,400). Wedding-day-only coverage had a median of $1,000 among six photographers.
What does wedding catering cost per guest?
Among four caterers publishing dinner menus, the lowest buffet dinner had a median of about $20.50 a guest before a service charge (median 19%) and sales tax. Open-house reception menus started at $12.50 to $14 a guest at the two caterers that publish them.
Why are some categories missing a median?
We report a median only when at least three businesses publish a comparable price. Where fewer do (DJs, dress rentals, announcements, rentals), we show the range and the number of businesses instead, because a median of two prices says little.
How often is the study updated?
Twice a year. Prices are re-read from the same sources each spring and fall, and the date at the top of the page changes when they are.
Can I use this data?
Yes. The full dataset is available as a JSON file, and we ask that you cite Provo.com's Utah County Wedding Cost Study and link to this page.
